| The "difficulty in choosing a spouse" for the older men in rural areas has been a hot topic in recent years,which has also been frequently mentioned by some survey reports on marital relationships of rural youths published in many places.At the same time,the marriage problems of the older unmarried men in rural areas have caused great impact at various levels.From a microscopic perspective,both the individuals and families are suffering form the great pressure brought by the marriage difficulty,which not only erodes the physical and mental health of individuals,but also tends to cause family conflicts.On the other hand,from a macroscopic perspective,the unsolved marriage problem of the older unmarried men in rural areas will make the pressure cannot be reasonably released,thus laying a hidden danger to social security and leading the social governance to face great inconvenience.In such context,based on the current situation of social work interventions in the marriage problems of the rural older unmarried men,this thesis analyzed the current situation and causes of their marriage pressure in X Village of Rugao City,Jiangsu Province through interviews.Through careful researches,it found that older unmarried men in this village had obvious cognitive and behavioral biases,low self-efficacy,lack of economic power,while some of them also had physical defects.In addition,in terms of external environment,there were also many other factors causing the difficulty of solving their marriage problems and the pressure increase,such as the high bride price,the drag of their family,the single social environment,as well as the unfavorable social opinion,etc.The author analyzed the demand of these older unmarried men based on the causes of their marital stress,which included easing negative emotions and relieving psychological stress from the individual aspect,adjusting cognitive biases and improving self-efficacy,recognizing behavioral biases and easing physiological stress,as well as learning anti-stress skills and promoting anti-stress ability.On the one hand,it is necessary to reconcile family conflicts,ease family atmosphere,and relieve family burden from the family aspect.On the other hand,the community shall take action from improving social participation,expanding the scope of communication,reducing public opinion prejudice,and improving bad marriage customs,etc.Guided by the theories of marriage squeeze,stress interaction cognition and empowerment,this thesis analyzed the demands of the older unmarried men in rural areas through combining with the professional knowledge about social works.By intervening through group activities,they were helped to ease the stress caused by marriage problems,recognize their own cognitive and behavioral biases,enhance their self-efficacy,learn anti-stress skills,improve interpersonal relationships and seek the possibility of marriage,which eventually enabled them to face life positively and actively.Finally,the author proposed suggestions on carrying out social work intervention in the marriage stress problem of the rural older unmarried men from the individuals perspective,and reflected on the family and community levels.For individuals,the author believed that social work intervention required a suitable opportunity to meet spiritual demands with potential stimulation as a long-term goal;As for the family aspects,social work intervention should aim at regulating family conflicts with relieving family burdens as an important means to relieve marital stress;on the community side,social work intervention can be carried out by strengthening the awareness of community participation among the rural older unmarried men,creating a communication platform for marital relationships,and guiding objective and objective communication.From the community level,social work intervention can achieve the goal of relieving marriage pressure among the rural older unmarried men by strengthening their awareness of community participation,creating a communication platform for marriage,guiding objective public opinion,as well as promoting customs and practices that are in line with social values. |
