| Language is a symbol of ethnic identity and a symbol of the core spirit of a nation.The theory of intergroup contact holds that members of two different groups can effectively promote harmonious intergroup relations between them through direct face-to-face contact,especially in-depth study and use of each other’s language,culture,tradition,etc.Previous studies have shown that the use of ethnic languages and bilingual attitudes can positively predict ethnic identity and play a crucial role in bridging the relationship between different ethnic groups.However,there is currently no empirical research on how the experience of ethnic groups in using their own language and Mandarin will affect the ethnic psychological integration of in-groups and out-groups.Accordingly,this study is based on the reality of the nation in our country,with the Yanbian Korean minority as the main research object,to explore the influence of bilingual experience on ethnic psychological compatibility,as well as the role of bilingual attitude and Chinese national identity in it.This can provide theoretical and empirical support for consolidating the consciousness of the Chinese nation’s community.In this study,three experiments were carried out on high school students who are bilingual in Korean and Chinese who are proficient in listening,speaking,reading and writing.Among them,Experiment 1a examines the validity of phonological priming materials and confirmatory research on phonological priming,while Experiment 1b adopts the phonological priming paradigm to examine the influence of bilingual experience on ethnic psychological integration from two levels of explicit and implicit;Experiment 2 examined the role of bilingual attitudes in the influence of bilingual experience on ethnic psychological integration;Experiment 3a examined the verification research on the initiation of Chinese national identity by different cultural symbols of the Chinese nation.Starting from the dual identity model,Experiment 3b examines the role of the common identity of the Chinese nation in the impact of bilingual experience on ethnic psychological integration by activating the Chinese national identity of Korean high school students.Through the above experimental research,the results show that:(1)The three audio clips selected in this study can successfully initiate the bilingual experience of the subjects;in addition,on both explicit and implicit levels: under the bilingual priming condition,the subjects’ national psychological distance to the foreign group is closer than that of the neutral group.(2)The type of bilingual attitude plays an important role in the influence of the individual’s bilingual experience on ethnic psychological integration.When the bilingual attitude is positive,the ethnic psychological distance of the foreign group in the bilingual priming group is significantly closer to that of the neutral group;when the bilingual attitude is positive When it was negative,there was no significant difference in the ethnic psychological distance of the foreign group in the bilingual priming group.(3)Chinese cultural symbols are effective clues to highlight the identity of the Chinese nation;in addition,the common identity of the Chinese nation plays an important role in the influence of bilingual experience on ethnic psychological integration.Under the condition of activating the common identity of the Chinese nation,there is no significant difference in the ethnic psychological distance between the bilingual priming group and the neutral group;Under the condition that the common identity is not activated,the ethnic psychological distance of the outgroup in the bilingual priming group is significantly closer than that in the neutral group.Based on the above experimental results,the main conclusions are as follows:(1)In the phonetic priming task,regardless of the explicit or implicit level,the bilingual experience of Korean high school students can narrow the ethnic psychological distance between the inner and outer groups,and promote the integration of ethnic psychology.(2)A positive bilingual attitude helps to narrow the ethnic psychological distance between inner and outer groups,and plays a positive role in promoting the influence of bilingual experience on ethnic psychological compatibility.(3)The common identity of the Chinese nation helps to narrow the psychological distance of Korean high school students to foreign groups,and plays a positive role in promoting the influence of bilingual experience on ethnic psychological compatibility. |
