In order to implement the national strategy to actively respond to the aging population,the State Council issued the national plan for the development of the cause of aging and the elderly care service system during the 14 th Five-Year Plan,encouraging the elderly to participate in voluntary services according to their own conditions.Work unit community has the characteristics of high overall trust,strong organizational ability and abundant elderly human resources,which are of great significance to improve the effectiveness of senior voluntary service.At present,the academic researches on senior voluntary service mainly focus on the value and effect,motivation and factors of the elderly participating in voluntary service,as well as the problems and countermeasures to improve the senior voluntary service.There are less researches on senior voluntary service in specific communities(especially the work unit communities).Based on the background above and academic research status,this paper takes S University community in Guangzhou as an example,and takes the strengths perspective as the theoretical basis to explore the present situation and optimization strategies of senior voluntary service in work unit community.Through investigation and field research,this paper analyses the general situation of senior voluntary service in S University community by collecting the self-administered questionnaires of 344 elderly people in S University community,combined with the participation observation of senior voluntary service in S University community,and conducting unstructured interviews with 12 representative elderly volunteers,social workers,members of community neighborhood committee and some of the faculty.Investigations and researches show that S University community has the advantages of carrying out senior voluntary service,such as community environment,ideological and cultural quality of the elderly,organizational power and policy support.However,due to the insufficient development of elderly resources in the community,the imperfect team construction of senior voluntary service,and the ineffective integration of community resources,there are some problems,such as the low actual participation rate of the elderly,the monotonous and solidified contents of voluntary services,the lack of standardized training of voluntary services,the inconsistency between incentive methods and incentive preferences,weak autonomy of voluntary service organizations and less introduction of professional resources of social work.This paper proposes that by means of the intervention of social work,people should fully tap the advantages of senior voluntary service in work unit community and determine the key areas,cultivate the self-organization of senior voluntary service and strengthen identity,effectively integrate community resources and empower elderly volunteers,so as to improve the effectiveness of senior volunteer service in work unit community.
