Postgraduate education is the highest level of the national education system.Its goal is to cultivate innovative talents,and the cultivation of innovative consciousness depends on Critical thinking.Science and engineering students,as reserve talents for future scientific research,need to possess a mindset to provide vitality for scientific innovation.Science and engineering students who have undergone undergraduate education have accumulated a certain amount of knowledge,but most of them have not developed their thinking consciousness;In the master’s stage,the thinking awareness of science and engineering students is particularly important.Therefore,in order to understand the Critical thinking tendency of science and engineering master students,this study takes Y University as a research pilot,adopts quantitative and qualitative research methods,explores the current situation and influencing factors of Critical thinking tendency of science and engineering master students in Y University,and puts forward targeted suggestions.Firstly,the current situation of critical thinking tendency of the master’s degree students of University Y was analyzed by questionnaire survey,and finally the revised version Chinese of the Critical Thinking Tendency Scale(CTDI-CV)compiled by Pang Meici and others of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University was finally adopted as the research scale.The survey results show that the level of critical thinking tendency of master’s students at University Y is generally poor and close to a very weak level.Further analysis shows that the level of critical thinking tendency of science and engineering master’s students is also different in different variables,among which grade,degree type and scientific research achievements are the variables that significantly affect the critical thinking tendency level of science and engineering master’s degree students at University Y.Secondly,the interview method was used to supplement the problems of critical thinking tendency of the group of master’s students in science and engineering of University Y,and the design of the interview questions was based on the research results of previous scholars and the results of questionnaire survey,and it was found that the overall master’s students of science and engineering of University Y had problems such as low level of critical thinking tendency,limitations of human cognition,lack of thinking ability,and insufficient investment in academic training.The reasons include the imprisonment of traditional education methods on ideas,the lack of management of resources in schools,the alienation of classroom forms and evaluation methods,and the impact of teacher training methods.Finally,in view of the current situation,problems and causes found above,this paper attempts to propose specific strategies for cultivating the critical thinking tendency of science and engineering master’s students of University Y from the perspectives of themselves,internal management and tutors.
