Chemistry is closely related to human production and life, and the society is making continuous progress and development, followed by frequent chemical safety accidents. In order to better prevent and respond to chemical safety accidents, the education department has clearly proposed that the chemical curriculum should cultivate students’ basic concepts of chemistry in the Chemical Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)and the Chemical Curriculum Standards for Ordinary High School(2017 Edition,2022 Revision)Scientific thinking and social responsibility, starting from the educational level, are advocated to enable students to form chemical safety awareness and the concept of rational use of chemicals in the process of chemical teaching practice, improve the awareness of dealing with accidental injuries, and gradually penetrate and eventually cultivate the chemical safety concept of middle school students.Chemical safety education is the main way to cultivate the chemical safety concept of middle school students. Now,chemical safety education has also become an important part of chemical teaching in junior and senior high schools.According to the literature related to chemical safety concepts, the current research on chemical safety concepts is relatively limited.Based on Bruner’s cognitive structure theory, constructivism theory and Chem Query evaluation theory, this study combines the cultivation of chemical safety concepts with chemistry teaching, studies existing theories related to chemical safety concepts, summarizes the measurement dimensions and scope of chemical safety concepts, and preliminarily divides the level of "chemical safety concepts.".After consulting relevant experts, the preliminary division level was optimized to obtain a scientific framework for the division of chemical safety concept levels, and based on this framework,a measurement tool for chemical safety concept levels was developed.Using questionnaires and statistical analysis methods, using Winsteps software, the Rasch model fit test was conducted on the preliminary test data of the measurement tool, and some items were optimized.A measurement tool with measurement value for the level of chemical safety concepts among middle school students was constructed.Using this tool, the construction level of chemical safety concepts among middle school students was measured and evaluated, and the following conclusions were obtained:1.In this study, the tool developed based on the Rasch model to assess the level of chemical safety perceptions among middle school students is scientific and can be used to obtain a more accurate status of the level of chemical safety perceptions among middle school students.2.The overall level of chemical safety concept of senior students is significantly higher than that of junior students, while there is no significant difference in the development level of safety concept of students of different sexes. The level of chemical safety concept of urban students is generally higher than that of rural students. The overall level of chemical safety concept of middle school students is still at the middle level, and the overall ability needs to be improved.3.The formation of middle school students’ chemical safety concept should go through four stages: "concept-recognition-formalization-construction".According to the evaluation results, the author also proposed teaching suggestions to strengthen the ability construction of chemical safety concepts among junior students, minimize the gap between urban and rural education levels, balance the development of chemical safety concept levels in different dimensions, promote the systematization and structuring of chemical safety concepts among middle school students, and implement the integration of "teaching learning evaluation".
