Mandalay is the second largest city in Myanmar is also a Chinese colony in northern Myanmar. The author was sent to Mandalay Confucius School from February 2018 to January 2020 as one of the first batch of Chinese language teacher volunteers, and most of the Chinese schools in the area are mainly primary and secondary schools, and most of the Chinese language teacher volunteers teach primary school students.Primary school students are susceptible to physiological and psychological factors, and problematic classroom behaviors occur frequently. The author has faced various kinds of students’ problem behaviors in the classroom, and how to solve these problem behaviors to ensure the effectiveness of Chinese classroom teaching. This paper is conducted through literature combing, classroom observation, interviews, and questionnaires.Through data analysis,I conclude that students’ problem behaviors in classrooms at Mandalay Confucius School are characterized as common and different, diverse and concentrated, hidden and uncontrolled.Through seven cases,we found that the causes of students’ problem behaviors in the classroom are diverse and complicated, mainly due to the unreasonable schedule of Chinese teaching;loose rules in the Chinese classroom;and the discrepancy between the content of teaching materials and students’ level. In the light of the relevant theories and the actual situation of the school,we propose corresponding strategies to solve the problems, such as formulating classroom rules and strengthening management awareness, adjusting teaching materials appropriately, and learning to teach according to students’ abilities. The purpose of this paper is to summarize the causes of classroom behaviors of Chinese elementary school students in Mandalay Confucian School and propose corresponding strategies to solve them.It is hoped that this paper will enrich the research on students’ problem behaviors in classrooms in northern Myanmar and provide effective references for future Chinese language teacher volunteers who will teach in Myanmar to deal with classroom problem behaviors.
