| Obesity is an important issue in global public health.Bariatric metabolic surgery is considered to be one of the most effective treatments for obesity.The expectation of the surgical effect and the concern of the physical condition accompany the whole procedure of the weight loss patients.After surgery,the patients also face the anxiety,which is caused by postoperative complications,struggles with their own appetite,and unsatisfactory results.In this paper,the postoperative disease and pain experience of weight loss patients were studied to explore what kind of anxiety emotions were had in different stages during the postoperative recovery process of weight loss patients?What’s the impact on individual psychology,physiology and family relationship?How did they cope with anxiety?Through in-depth interviews and participant observation,this study collected the experience materials of 33 weight loss patients in Xiyue Hospital.From the theoretical perspective of biographical disruption to analye the anxiety themes in different stages of weight loss surgery recovery and its impact on the life process of weight loss patients and their families,and summarized the coping ways of weight loss patients.The study found that the treatment stage of weight loss patients can be divided into four stages:preoperative preparation stage,recovery stage(one month after surgery),plateau stage and body stability stage(one year after surgery).There are different anxiety themes in different treatment stages,such as anxiety about the effects of surgery,the anxiety due to adjusting to the "new body",anxiety about weight and appearance,and anxiety about maintaining new lifestyle habits.In the process of self-overcoming anxiety,dieters also have three ways:negative coping,"weight loss addiction" and self-reconciliation.In the recovery process of these weight loss patients,the biographical disruption will not appear in a single stage,but the destruction,continuation or enhancement will alternately appear.Based on the research findings,the author tries to propose the following inspirations for social work:to develop service to promote the doctor-patient relationship,to provide targeted services for weight loss patients in different recovery periods,and to build harmonious family network services.Call on medical social workers and relevant policy makers to pay attention to obesity,in order to reduce the stereotype of weight loss from the social level,and make the whole treatment process of weight loss more smooth. |
