As an integral part of school education,the main function of labor education is to help students establish correct labor concepts and consciousness,cultivate their initial labor ability,life ability and vocational ability,and develop their spirit and psychological qualities of hard work,perseverance,courage and tenacious struggle.China is a socialist country.School labor education plays a special and important role in the Party’s and the country’s educational policy of "cultivating morality and educating people","developing the five disciplines simultaneously" and "educating people with all three disciplines".Its position is indispensable.Over the past 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China,the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State concerning school labor education,It has generally experienced the beginning of the founding of the People’s Republic(1949-1956),the ten years of all-round socialist construction(1956-1966),the ten years of the "Cultural Revolution" and the two years after the "Cultural Revolution"(1966-1978),the new period of reform and opening up and socialist modernization(1978-2011),and the New era(2012-)Years to the present)and five periods of development and evolution.Its general evolution trend and characteristics are: in the aspect of labor education and personnel training,from the initial training of single development of workers,to the new century after the training of comprehensive development of personnel;In the aspect of the goal of labor education,it has changed from emphasizing the role of politics and ideology in the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China to emphasizing the comprehensive quality and all-round development after the reform and opening up.In terms of the curriculum of labor education,it has evolved from the independent curriculum in the 1950 s and 1960 s to the comprehensive curriculum in the 1980 s to the first decade of the new century,and then to the independent curriculum in the new era.In terms of the content of labor education,from the single closed production knowledge and ability education before the reform and opening up,to the comprehensive knowledge and ability education after the reform and opening up,etc.At the same time,the Party in the process of leading school labor education,also accumulated some rich and important historical experience,mainly: first,adhere to the Party’s overall leadership of school labor education;Secondly,it is a compulsory course for students to take part in some material production labor appropriately.Thirdly,adhere to the guidance of promoting students’ healthy growth and all-round development as the school’s labor education work;Fourth,keep pace with The Times,constantly adjust the content of school labor education,etc.In the future,schools at all levels should standardize the curriculum of labor education,promote the professional construction of labor education teachers,build labor education practice bases inside and outside the school,reform and improve the evaluation system of students’ labor literacy,expand the propaganda positions of labor culture and other aspects,so as to carry out the education policy of the Party and the state effectively.We will promote highquality development of education at all levels in the new era.
