A Study Of The Stigmatized Collective Memory And Contemporary Turning Of Subei People

Jiangsu Province because of its unique geographical location and administrative division historical reasons,in the province split into southern Jiangsu and northern Jiangsu two parties that do not identify with each other and oppose each other,and because of the natural conditions,development planning,urban-rural differences,class stratification and other factors in modern times,Subei People often suffer stereotypes,prejudice and discrimination due to coming from northern Jiangsu in the process of working and living in southern Jiangsu,this regional identity not only constructs a stigmatized identity for the northern Jiangsu group from the outside,but also in southern Jiangsu,People in Shanghai and even the Yangtze River Delta region have internalized a universal collective memory,Subei People are not only treated differently in real life,but also often suffer from the bombardment and ridicule of netizens from all over the world under the topic of regional discrimination on the Internet,and the double exclusion of reality and virtual brings a sense of relative deprivation and separation to Subei People,resulting in the mentality of inferior people of "second-class citizens" has always been difficult to eliminate from their ideology.This study takes the Subei People who have flowed into T City,Jiangsu Province,and uses the observation,interview and literature methods as research methods to observe,describe and summarize the current situation of stigma suffered by Subei People in three different occasions:workplace,marriage and family situation and daily interaction,disassemble and analyze the manifestations and degrees of stigma in different fields,and explore the reasons for the stigma of Subei People in modern society.This study finds that because enterprise organizations pay attention to rationality and equality in a series of processes such as work scenarios,team atmosphere,recruitment,assessment and promotion,Subei People who seek employment in southern Jiangsu no longer experience differential treatment due to geographical reasons,and personnel interaction in work scenes pursues efficiency,the division of work responsibilities is clear,the value of northern Jiangsu’s private information is weakened,and karmic relationships are benign interaction,and Subei People are no longer stigmatized in the workplace;Turning the focus to marriage and family,because intimacy is directly linked to personal interests,Subei People were still stigmatized in the marriage and love situation with southern Jiangsu people for a long time in the past,but with the continuous increase in the proportion of individual contact and the weakening of the intergenerational transmission of regional concepts,more and more young people no longer care about the individual’s pre-endowment characteristics in love and mate selection and pay more attention to the matching of later factors,and the stigma of northern Jiangsu is fading;In the community,although the relationship between Subei People in the community and the neighborhood has experienced a process from strange to familiar,from isolation to integration,the stigma has melted like ice between nodding and smiling,and getting along with peers is even more like a spring breeze.The reason why the stigma of Subei People has been diluted in contemporary times is that after the reform and opening up,with the continuous acceleration of the process of modernization and urbanization,large-scale population movement has become the norm of modern life,and people from all over the world gather in one place,communicate with each other,learn from each other’s strengths,and the interaction between individuals has gradually lost the imprint left by their origin on people;The invisible hand of the market is fiddling with the economy,bringing not only coordinated development between regions,but also reshaping the original measurement criteria for individual typology while constantly narrowing the gap between southern Jiangsu and northern Jiangsu,and turning into another set of new standards that focus on personal capital and personality expression at this stage;Subei individuals are also striving to catch up with the pace of social transformation and upgrading,and enhance the social identity value of individuals and groups by actively changing their own image.
