Social Construction Of Stigma Perception

Along with the social economic rapid and sustainable development since 1980 s,China emerged the largest scale in human history of rural-urban migrants.With the rapid advanced of urbanization,the rural-urban migrants scale have been expanding rapidly,its composition also gradually from the early single fluxion mode transition to domestic fluxion mode.As such an important part of this group,the number of migrant children of off-farm workers also sustained and rapid growth.With its huge population and distinctive characteristics different from elder generation,this group has attracted by the social and academia long-standing concerns,how to guarantee migrant children of off-farm workers to live a health life,and study in urban has gradually becoming the crucial topic of social science researchers.because of the influence of the difference between the cultural background,the socio-economic development,the life style and the habit,and the values of the urban and rural,and the constraint of management system and policy,these migrant children of off-farm workers in a relatively weak position of daily life,study,and social intercourse,has face different aspects of the discrimination and prejudice from partly individual in advantage groups from city,and emerged stigma perception,this was not conducive to the large number of migrant children of off-farm workers' physical and mental health growth of individual and groups,thus influence the benign development of the rural and urban social virtuous cycle and social stability and unity.This study choose LIZHI school in SHENZHEN city as study site,with mixed methods respectively choose grade seven,6 classes,grade eight,3 classes,in totel 360 migrant children of off-farm workers to do the questionnaire;choose 27 migrant children in three different grade,take participatory observation and semi-structured depth interview,explores the migrant children that suffer the question of stigma perception.Research mainly try to answer this four questions:1.Are the migrant children of off-farm workers has stigma perception? If it exists,what's the extent of the stigma perception? In order to solve this problem,researcher mainly uesd analysis the data from the questionnaires of migrant children in two grade,found that 71.2% of migrant children have stigma perception,but the overall level was fairly low,and the dimension of classification of stigma perception is also in a very low level;different types of migrant children have different stigma perception.There is a significant negative influence on the stigma perception of migrant children between the different supporting subjects,and there has the differences in dimension of classification.2.What effect does the stigma perception have on the migrant children of off-farm workers? Based on the existing literature and interviews data of migrant children to analysis this problem,it is concluded that stigma perception brings four aspects harmful effect to migrant children,these are mental state,happiness,social interaction,and studies.3.Which field constructs the stigma perception of the migrant children? Mainly depends on the social integration and social identity theory of sociology to analysis this question,focusing on research from the perspective of social psychology in face of the advantages of city,migrant children prerequisite conditions��the limitation of national system and policy,etc.,the different level changes of family,school in city,community in city influence the construct of their stigma perception.4.How to dissolve the stigma perception of the migrant children of off-farm workers? Based on the different fields and different levels content construction of stigma perception,directed against from different dimensions of the field,tentatively put forward from the national system and policy,etc.,affection and culture of family,school and teacher,public opinion of social and public welfare institutions,systematic intervention and eliminate the stigma perception of the migrant children,so as to provided scientific basis to promote migrant children more adapt,and integrate into urban life and the study.
