As a major type of public emergencies, social security incidents are crisis events caused by human factors that need to be dealt with urgently. As China enters a critical period of social transformation, various multi-level conflicts have emerged and thus social security incidents occur more frequently. At the same time, the background of frequent social security incidents has led to a decline in trust in the news in nearly half of the countries in the world. The occurrence of social security incidents has a negative impact on social harmony and stability, making such issues the focus of public attention. With the continuous fermentation of the incidents, the control of social security incidents and media trust mechanisms are subject to certain impact. As a major consumer group in the online society, youth groups are more involved in social security events and media practices. How do young people choose and use various media channels to understand the information in social security incidents? What are the differences in the trust level of different media among youth groups in social security incidents? What is the relationship between different levels of influencing factors and the social confidence of youth groups? These are the three key questions that this paper attempts to answer. This paper uses a questionnaire survey and statistical analysis to investigate the effect of different media on youth communication in social security incidents and the influence of media trust on the social confidence of youth through empirical research. This paper is divided into five chapters. The introductory chapter introduces the background and significance of the study, identifies the research questions, research perspectives, and ideas, composes a literature review of the main concepts involved in the paper, and introduces the overall research ideas and research methods of the paper. The first chapter analyzes the concept definition and characteristics of social security events and explains the current situation of media trust development among youth groups. The second chapter introduces the overall design of the questionnaire, including variable design,pre-study reliability analysis, model construction, and research hypothesis. The third chapter introduces the overall profile of the sample through the questionnaire collection and descriptive statistics, conducts the reliability test, and introduces the main performance of media use and information exposure of youth groups in the context of social security incidents. The fourth chapter develops the relationship between official/unofficial media exposure and use, media trust, and social confidence among youth groups in the context of social security events through multivariate statistical analysis, and tests the influencing factors through regression models, followed by mediating effects tests to verify the related hypotheses. The fifth chapter focuses on summarizing and discussing the previous contents through research findings while reflecting on the reconstruction of the relationship between media trust and social confidence of youth groups in the risk context of social security incidents. This paper finds that the media exposure behavior of youth groups has a direct effect on social confidence in social security events,in which official media exposure has a significant positive effect on social confidence, while unofficial media exposure has the opposite effect;secondly, the media trust of the youth group also has a significant effect on social confidence. On the one hand, official media trust has a significant mediating effect between official media exposure behavior and social confidence, while on the other hand, unofficial media trust does not have a significant mediating effect on social confidence. In the case of social security incidents, the authoritative influence of the official media is great, not only to transmit the latest development of the incident to the youth group but also to shape its credibility to have a significant impact on the social confidence of the youth group, reflecting the important guiding role of the official media in such incidents. At the same time, unofficial media contact behavior also has a significant negative impact on the social confidence of youth groups, showing its important communication effect. Therefore, the media information dissemination in social security events should be further regulated and managed to guide youth groups to form a correct perception of such events based on of ensuring truthfulness and objectivity,to shape their positive social confidence,to create a healthy and harmonious public opinion environment and maintain the overall social This will build their positive social confidence and maintain the stability and security of the whole society. |
