With the progress of modern society and the ever-changing living environment, which brings severe challenges to individual psychological adaptation and psychological modernization,it is a state in which an individual can keep harmony with the people, things and things around him in a complicated environment. The level of social adaptation is usually related to the family, previous studies have shown that there is a close relationship between parental neglect, rumination and social adjustment, but the internal mechanism of these three factors is not clear, the purpose of this study was to explore the influence of parental neglect on social adaptation and the role of rumination in it,and to provide new strategies to promote junior high school students’ social adaptation. In this study, the Parents Neglect Scale, the Positive and Negative Rumination Scale, and the Children’s Social Adjustment Scale were used to investigate and analyze junior high school students in Nanning,Guangxi in the form of anonymous questionnaires.A total of 1458 questionnaires were sent out in this study. After eliminating 36 invalid questionnaires,1422 valid questionnaires were obtained. After analyzing and processing the results, the following research results were obtained:(1)in gender, the positive rumination score of male students was significantly higher than that of female students, and the negative rumination score of female students was significantly higher than that of male students.(2)in grade, the scores of father neglect and mother neglect were significantly higher in grade three than in grade two and grade one,and the scores of positive rumination were significantly higher in grade one than in grade two and grade three The scores of negative rumination in grade three were significantly higher than those in grade one and grade two,and the scores of social adaptation in grade one were significantly higher than those in grade two and grade three.(3)there are two correlations between father’s neglect,Mother’s neglect, positive ruminating thinking, negative ruminating thinking and social adaptation.(4)the positive and negative ruminating thoughts play a part of mediating role in the influence of neglect on social adaptation by the father and the mother.Based on the above findings, the following suggestions are put forward: Schools should pay attention to the risk factors of social maladjustment;parents should have sufficient care and more support for their children;and actively carry out the training of positive rumination thinking, when students are faced with negative family events-parents neglect and produce negative emotions, the school should intervene in time to train students to actively ruminate,in order to improve the social adaptation level of students,to promote the development of students’ mental health, attention to gender and grade differences,to improve the social adaptation level of students.
