| With the steady progress of comprehensive green transformation in economic and social development, enhancing corporate social responsibility(CSR)and promoting green technology innovation are key measures for driving high-quality development.CSR is a socially responsible behavior for fulfilling contracts, yet existing research focuses on CSR content and objects while neglecting the effect of its deep-seated social attributes on green technology innovation.Additionally, there have been studies focusing on the differences in the mechanics of the two under various contextual factors, such as corporate characteristics and external environment. However, few research engage in the impact of the network position on the relationship between CSR and green technology innovation. Therefore,it is necessary to further explore the mechanisms of CSR on green technology innovation.Based on the integrative social contract theory, this study analyzes CSR into tight contractual CSR and loose contract CSR,and focuses on the mechanism of CSR on green technology innovation.Taking the Ashare listed companies from 2006 to 2021 as the initial sample, this study combines the data of CSMAR,news, and corporate annual report and quantifies CSR by text analysis method. The multi-source data are extracted from the patent database of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, the Chinese Research Data Services database, the financial data sub-database and the corporate governance database of CSMAR.Poisson panel regression is used for empirical test. The results show that tight contractual CSR has a significant negative impact on green technology innovation, while loose contractual CSR has a significant positive impact on green technology innovation.Collaboration network connectivity enhances the negative impact of tight contractual CSR on green technology innovation, and weakens the positive impact of loose contractual CSR on green technology innovation.Collaboration network dominance weakens the negative impact of tight contractual CSR on green technology innovation, and strengthens the positive impact of loose contractual CSR on green technology innovation. This study further discusses the heterogeneity of enterprise size and the nature of corporate equity.Using the integrative social contract perspective, this study offers a comprehensive analysis of CSR,enriching CSR theory and extending the boundaries of CSR’s conceptual framework.Furthermore,a conceptual model is developed to examine the impact of different types of CSR on green technology innovation, along with an in-depth exploration of the mechanisms of CSR on green technology innovation under various scenarios. This study aims to address the CSR and green innovation"paradox" by emphasize the different positions of enterprises in social networks.Ultimately, this research provides valuable insights for enterprises to fulfill their social responsibilities and promote green technology innovation in practice. |
