Children and adolescents between the ages of 6 and 18 are facing a number of sexual health challenges as they grow up,such as high rates of unwanted pregnancies and repeat miscarriages, younger ages of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases, and frequent cases of sexual assault and school bullying.Comprehensive sex education helps children and adolescents learn about sex and improve their overall health literacy to prepare them for a healthy, safe and happy life in the future.Literature review shows that sexual health literacy includes three dimensions: sexual knowledge, sexual attitude and sex-related life skills, and domestic and foreign studies have shown that interventions from these three dimensions have certain positive effects. Therefore, this paper attempts to explore intervention paths to improve children’s sexual health literacy from the perspective of professional social work.Using the method of questionnaire survey and semi-structured interview, this study investigated the current situation of sex education among 183 senior children in Y primary school. It was found that this group had problems such as lack of scientific and effective information acquisition channels, improper cognition of sex issues and lack of sex-related life skills.Learning sexual knowledge, desensitization to sexual issues, establishing sexual attitudes and mastering sex-related life skills are the essential elements of improving sexual health literacy of Y primary school children. Therefore, this study adopted the method of quasi-experimental design, selected two classes of Grade 5 in Y Primary School as the experimental group and the control group, designed the intervention program based on the comprehensive sexuality education model and social learning theory, and carried out 11 sex education group activities with different themes for the experimental group. Finally, the intervention results were evaluated and the intervention process was evaluated by combining qualitative and quantitative analysis. It was found that the sex education group work significantly improved the overall health literacy level of the intervention subjects.Specifically, the intervention effects of the sex education group work in the improvement of sexual knowledge, sexual attitude and the positive development of sex-related life skills were confirmed. In addition, the improvement of sexual health literacy of girls after the intervention was significantly higher than that of boys, and the improvement of sexual health literacy of children who had talked about "sex" with their parents after the intervention was also significantly higher than children who had not talked about it.
