With the globalization of education services and the development of China’s overseas study,more and more international students choose to come to China to obtain higher education degrees or study Chinese.Compared with many established countries of studying abroad in the world,China’s educational service system is not perfect enough.From the perspective of improving the education service system in China,it is important and necessary to study the motivation for studying abroad and employment intentions of international students in China.The motivation for studying abroad reveals the internal and external factors influencing the choice of international students to study in China,while the employment intentions show the results expected by international students who choose to study in China.This research takes the international students of Tianjin University as the research object,and uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods to investigate and study the motivation for studying abroad and employment intentions of international students in China,which breaks through the defects of previous studies that focus on quantitative empirical research and ignore the subjective perspective of international students in China,and analyzes the motivation of studying abroad and employment intention.The quantitative research part of this thesis adopts the research method of questionnaire survey,and uses the SPSS to analyze the survey results;the qualitative research part uses the research method of in-depth interviews,and uses the Nvivo to analyze the survey results.On this basis,cross analysis and regression analysis are carried out on the motivation for studying abroad and employment intentions of international students in China.The results are as follows:Based on the quantitative research on the motivation for studying abroad,the international students in China are classified from the perspective of push-pull force,and three clusters are obtained.They are named as push-pull double-low international students,weak-link pull-type international students,and push-pull double-high international students according to the characteristics of push-pull force.Through the qualitative research on motivation for studying abroad,it is found that pull factors include Chinese culture,China or Chinese diploma,China’s economic and social environment,Chinese connection,Chinese education level,Chinese policy material and Chinese language environment,and push factors include education status of the home country and social environment of the home country.Through the quantitative research on employment intentions,it is found that international students who choose to stay in China temporarily account for the largest proportion,and job development factors have the greatest influence on the choice of graduation destination.Through the qualitative research on employment intentions,this thesis specifically analyzes the plans,reasons and advantages,difficulties and defects of international students who choose three different destinations for graduation.In the cross analysis of push-pull force type and post graduation intention,it is found that the proportion of push-pull double-low international students who plan to obtain employment directly after graduation and return home for development is relatively high.The proportion of weak-link pull-type international students who purse further studies after graduation and expect to stay in China for development is relatively high.Push-pull double-high international students show unclear attitudes in both the choice of pursuing further education or getting a job after graduation and the specific destination after graduation.In the regression analysis,it is found that the external influence push will have a significant positive relationship with the decompression factors related to staying in China.The social and cultural pull will have a significant positive impact on the factors of working in China,and the external influence push will have a significant positive impact on factors of working in China.Based on the quantitative and qualitative research results of this thesis,it is found that the pull factor of Chinese culture is the most important factor in the motivation of studying abroad.In terms of employment intentions,it is found that a large number of international students wish to stay in China temporarily or permanently after graduation.International students with different types of motivation for studying in China have different plans for their future after graduation,but they generally show an unclear attitude towards the question of pursuing higher education or getting a job.Some of the push and pull factors of motivation for studying in China will have an impact on the factors of employment choice.Based on the above conclusions,this research puts forward suggestions on the teaching of Chinese culture and the cultivation of the ability to use Chinese language practically in colleges and universities,and suggestions on the employment service guidance from the three levels of the state,enterprises and colleges,and proposes reasonable planning of employment plans for international students in China.
