In the context of the implementation of the national strategy of "strengthening the country through sports" and "fitness for all",the post-competition use of the stadiums of the Fourteen Sports Games has become an important vehicle for promoting fitness for all in Xi’an and achieving a healthy Shaanxi. It is particularly important to propose reasonable and targeted strategies for the efficient use of post-competition venues. This study adopts literature, fieldwork, mathematical statistics and spatial geography techniques, and draws on theories such as multi-core,central place, location and "pointaxis-net" system. The paper also investigates the factors affecting the post-competition use of the stadiums in Xi’an,analyzes the current problems in the post-competition use of the stadiums in Xi’an,and proposes strategies to provide the government with theoretical references when formulating policies or plans for the post-competition use of the stadiums in Xi’an.The paper draws the following conclusions:(1)From the perspective of the whole city of Xi’an,the XIV Games stadium resources in Xi’an are more excessively concentrated in the main urban area, lacking a reasonable layout of sports venue resources, and the provision of sports programmes in some stadiums is less diverse in comparison, with the venues with relatively poor provision of sports programmes being Xi’an City Sports Park and Shaanxi Provincial Stadium.(2)The results of the buffer zone analysis, accessibility analysis and service range analysis of each stadium within each region of Xi’an are less satisfactory;the best results of buffer zone, accessibility and service range analysis of individual stadiums among the 14 sports venues are the Xi’an Sports Institute Ground Throwing Stadium, followed by Shaanxi Provincial Stadium which is better.(3)Road network distribution, economic development, luminous remote sensing, urban planning, population distribution and physical geography all have an influence on the post-competition use of the XIV Games stadiums in Xi’an.The road network distribution has the greatest influence on the post-competition use of stadiums and has the strongest explanatory power, followed by economic development,night-light remote sensing, urban building outline, population distribution and natural geography, while the natural geography factor has the least influence on the post-competition use of Xi’an XIV Olympic Games stadiums and has the weakest explanatory power.(4)There are five major problems in the post-competition use of the Xi’an XIV Games stadiums as follows: more stadiums in the main city, fewer in the surrounding areas, poorer accessibility, weaker service capacity, lower multi-functional utilization and insufficient openness.(5)From a spatial-geographical perspective, taking each of the XIV Games sports venues in Xi’an as the main body, and based on the problems derived and the relationship between the role of spatial layout on the post-competition utilisation of sports venues, the optimisation strategies for the post-competition utilisation of the XIV Games sports venues in Xi’an are proposed,as follows: constructing sports spaces to improve the utilisation rate of venues with poor spatial location,Optimising the accessibility of venues to increase the experience of sports exercise for the masses, optimising the layout of the city’s population to improve the service capacity of venues, introducing social capital to diversify the development of venue functions, and increasing the opening of venues to improve their post-competition utilisation rate.
