As an important quality and ability that everyone should possess in the 21 st century, computational thinking plays an important role in promoting the lifelong learning and all-round development of individuals. As an important place to train talents,it is particularly important to train students’ computational thinking ability in teaching.Traditional high school information technology courses pay more attention to the cultivation of students’ theoretical knowledge and operational skills, but pay less attention to the cultivation of students’ computational thinking ability.Constructivism learning theory, cooperative learning theory and Dewey’s "learning by doing" theory are taken as the important theoretical basis of this research. The research methods are literature research, questionnaire survey, interview and quasi-experiment.With the goal of cultivating high school students’ computational thinking, the teaching design is carried out and its effectiveness is verified through the teaching of high school information technology courses.Firstly, through the analysis of relevant literature, the research status at home and abroad is sorted out, computational thinking and project-based teaching are analyzed, and the theoretical basis of this research is clarified. Then, the training dimension of computational thinking is integrated into project-based teaching to construct project-oriented teaching process of computational thinking. Then, the influence of project-oriented teaching on cultivating computational thinking was observed by setting up control class and experimental class, and the effectiveness of project-oriented teaching process oriented to computational thinking was tested. Finally, through the analysis of students’ computational thinking before and after measurement data, interviews with students and analysis of works, comprehensive understanding of students’ computational thinking ability changes. The results show that the designed project-oriented teaching process for cultivating computational thinking can promote students’ computational thinking ability. The experiment preliminarily verifies the effectiveness of the teaching design and provides some theoretical support and practical reference for training high school students’ computational thinking ability.
