With the advancement of education informatization,learning has gradually transitioned from the face-to-face traditional classroom to a large-scale online learning model,and online teaching has become the new norm.Studies have shown that due to the lack of face-to-face classroom communication and effective interaction in the online learning environment,the performance of learners’ online learning engagement is not satisfactory,and phenomena such as low course completion rate and shallow negative participation are of great concern.How to promote learners’ engagement and foster deep participation in online learning environment has become an important issue in the field of educational technology.For college students,teachers,as "facilitators",are important social agents in learning activities.Teacher support is not only directly related to learning effectiveness,but also correlates with learners’ emotional experience and commitment to learning.According to self-determination theory,when learners’ perceived autonomy is high,their learning engagement behavior is self-determined,in which case the behavior is driven by intrinsic motivation.Therefore,self-determination theory can be used to explain the effect of individual need satisfaction on motivation differences,and then applied to study the effect of motivation on online learning engagement,which is important for improving the quality of online learning.The study was based on self-determination theory and constructivist learning theory.Based on theoretical analysis and review of relevant literature,the research hypothesis was formulated in terms of the relationship between four latent variables: teacher support,internal motivation,external motivation and online learning engagement,and a preliminary model of the influence of teacher support and learning motivation on online learning engagement was constructed,so that questionnaire design,pre-survey and questionnaire testing could be conducted to determine the formal questionnaire The questionnaire was designed,pre-surveyed and tested to determine the official questionnaire.The valid data collected were analyzed through the questionnaire method.Using SPSS statistical analysis software to conduct common method deviation analysis,descriptive statistics and correlation analysis on the collected data to grasp the current status of university students’ perceived teacher support,learning motivation and online learning engagement;and using AMOS software to conduct validation factor analysis and path analysis to test the mechanism of the role of learning motivation in teacher support and online learning engagement,and further discuss the influence of teacher support and The effect of learning motivation on online learning engagement was further discussed.The results of the study indicated that in the model of the influence of teacher support and learning motivation on online learning engagement,internal motivation plays a partially mediating role in teacher support and online learning engagement,and teacher support not only has a positive direct effect on online learning engagement,but also can have an indirect effect through the mediating variable of internal motivation;internal motivation plays a fully mediating role in external motivation and online learning engagement,i.e.,external motivation indirectly influences online learning engagement by affecting internal motivation.internal motivation plays a fully mediating role in external motivation and online learning engagement,i.e.,external motivation indirectly affects online learning engagement by influencing internal motivation.In addition,because the effect of external motivation on online learning engagement was not significant,through the modification and improvement of the influence model,the study found that external motivation only positively influenced the dimension of behavioral engagement.Finally,according to the influence mechanism between variables,we propose strategies to optimize college students’ online learning engagement in terms of teacher support and learning motivation,in order to provide guidance for educators to carry out online teaching and improve online education services,promote the precision of online teaching,and ensure the quality of online learning.
