Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China in 1976,the two countries have maintained friendly communication,and local Chinese education is also in increasingly development,Chinese has gradually become one of the most popular foreign languages in Thailand.In the International Chinese Language Education Volunteer Program conducted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation,the number of teaching positions in Thailand has always been high to meet the high demand for Chinese language teachers in the local area.By 2022,it has been 47 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand,and the friendly relationship between China and Thailand as a family has deeply rooted in people’s hearts.At the same time,as one of the first international Chinese language education volunteers to be dispatched again after the epidemic,2022 is a year of great significance for local Chinese language education.This article focuses on the practical teaching effects of TPRS teaching method in classroom application,starting from the elementary Chinese language classes in Thai high schools.It explores the applicability of TPRS teaching method model to Thai education concepts and primary level learners in high school.After going to Thailand,the author was assigned to Nongkhae SorakitPittaya Middle School in Saraburi to carry out eight months overseas teaching practice.During the internship,TPRS teaching method was used for teaching experiments to further explore Chinese teaching methods for Thai junior high school learners.Firstly,the author analyzes the overview of Chinese language teaching in Thailand and the actual situation of Nongkhae SorakitPittaya Middle School.From the perspectives of cultural differences between China and Thailand,school teaching overview,and frontend Chinese language teaching,the author preliminarily explores the advantages and disadvantages of primary Chinese language teaching in Thai high schools;Subsequently,the feasibility of classroom teaching using TPRS teaching method was discussed.Two classes with the same level of Chinese language were selected,and TPRS teaching method and traditional teaching method were used respectively.Based on the principles of TPRS teaching method,classroom empirical research was conducted,presenting teaching steps and operational instructions;Verify its effectiveness through quantitative analysis of teaching test scores and questionnaire surveys.Research has found that the application of TPRS teaching method in primary Chinese language teaching in Thai high schools can improve students’ comprehensive ability to use Chinese,enhance classroom participation and fun,and achieve good teaching results.In addition,based on teaching cases,suggestions are proposed on the challenges and response strategies faced in teaching from three aspects: schools,teachers,and textbooks,in order to provide certain reference significance for international Chinese education volunteers in Thailand to carry out Chinese language teaching work.
