| Tobacco is a major killer of human health,and in the context of the Healthy China strategy,tobacco control has long been a public issue of national concern,not just a matter of personal habit.In recent years,e-cigarettes(also known as electronic nicotine delivery systems),a new derivative of traditional tobacco,are rapidly gaining popularity around the world,especially among young people,and there is ongoing debate about the health risks of e-cigarettes and whether they can help with smoking cessation.This study uses a health communication perspective and a health belief model to model the impact of e-cigarette information dissemination on college students’ willingness to control e-cigarettes,using e-cigarette control information exposure,e-cigarette control beliefs and e-cigarette control behaviours as the main variables.The study used a combination of questionnaires and in-depth interviews with 411 college students in Changchun to investigate the current state of knowledge about e-cigarette tobacco control among the college student population in Changchun,and to explore how exposure to e-cigarette tobacco control information and e-cigarette tobacco control beliefs affect college students’ willingness to engage in e-cigarette tobacco control behaviours in Changchun.The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of e-cigarette control information exposure and e-cigarette control beliefs on college students’ willingness to control e-cigarettes and the mechanisms of their influence through an empirical study of college students in Changchun,to establish a model for changing college students’ willingness to control e-cigarettes,and to propose targeted strategies for optimizing e-cigarette control health communication among college students,and to explore how the media can better use e-cigarette control information exposure to influence college students’ willingness to control e-cigarettes.The study found that the media can make better use of e-cigarette control messages to target interventions on college students’ willingness to control e-cigarettes and promote health behaviour change.This study found that the exposure to e-cigarette tobacco control information among Changchun college students was low and incomplete,specifically in three areas: low frequency of exposure to e-cigarette tobacco control information,a single channel for disseminating e-cigarette tobacco control information,and a single topic for e-cigarette tobacco control exposure;secondly,college students in Changchun have strong beliefs about e-cigarette tobacco control,although e-cigarette tobacco control exposure influences their perceptions of e-cigarettes and to a certain extent leads to their Although their knowledge of e-cigarettes was not sufficient,most of them had strong beliefs about e-cigarette smoking control;finally,the willingness of Changchun college students to control e-cigarette smoking behavior needs to be further strengthened.In addition,this study used the Health Belief Model to explore the factors influencing Changchun university students’ willingness to control e-cigarettes,and found that their willingness to control e-cigarettes was associated with exposure to e-cigarette control information and e-cigarette control beliefs.Specifically,the e-cigarette control information exposure of Changchun university students positively influenced their tobacco control beliefs and behavioral intentions,while the e-cigarette control information exposure of Changchun university students positively and indirectly influenced their e-cigarette control behavioral intentions through the perceived susceptibility,perceived severity and perceived benefits of e-cigarette control,with e-cigarette control beliefs playing a significant mediating effect.Based on the above research,this study modified the health belief model and established a model of change in willingness to control e-cigarettes among college students in Changchun.Based on the questionnaire data and interview results,the study also reflected on the current situation of e-cigarette smoking control information dissemination in the media and proposed strategies to optimize e-cigarette smoking control health communication among college students: suggesting that the media should reshape cognition: scientific and professionalization of e-cigarette smoking control information;expand channels: online and offline joint communication by the "old and new" media;and make good use of methods: combining online and offline communication with the "old and new" media.It is suggested that the media should improve the communication effect of e-cigarette smoking control messages by reshaping cognition: scientific and professionalization of e-cigarette smoking control messages;expanding channels: online and offline joint communication by the "old and new" media;and making good use of methods: using "letters" as a breakthrough for health behavior change. |
