| This paper uses the social support theory and the strengths perspective theory as the support, and case work as the means to explore the aging in the community of elderly people living alone in W city J community from three perspectives: repairing family relationships, establishing community support network, and introducing social resources to transform the home facility.Firstly, this paper examines the current situation of elderly care in community J and the elderly care dilemmas and needs of service recipient H.On the whole, there are three external barriers to elderly care in J community, such as the serious aging of the community population, the obvious self-categorization of the elderly in the community, and the lack of community attention to the elderly;from the perspective of the individual service recipient H,his elderly care dilemmas and needs are mainly expressed in three aspects: the breakup of family relationships and the need for emotional longing, the unfamiliar interpersonal relationships and the need to rebuild social networks, the simplicity of rental housing and the need to improve the living environment In terms of the three aspects, the needs and difficulties of the client H are mainly the breakup of family relationships and the need for emotional longing, the need for reconstruction of unfamiliar interpersonal relationships and social networks, and the need for improvement of living facility.Secondly, this paper focuses on the three basic barriers and needs of client H in aging, and carries out casework service plan design and practical activities. On the one hand, based on the professional relationship with the client, the case work service objectives and service plan were formulated, and on the other hand, three phases of case work services were carried out according to the service plan.During the three-month casework intervention, the social worker mainly carried out three aspects of work: first,to reconcile the conflicts between client H and her son in order to restore the support network of her family of origin;second,to help client H establish a community support network in her place of residence;and third,to help client H retrofit her rented house to age-appropriate by introducing social resources.Follow-up services are also provided after the service period.Again, this paper evaluates the overall practice effectiveness from three perspectives: process, outcome, and supervision. From the perspective of the process, the social workers were able to follow up and assess the needs of the clients at different stages in the early, middle and late stages, and they were able to shift from being paternalistic in the early stage to treating the clients equally in the middle and late stages, but they still did not fully respect the clients’ opinions. From the process of supervision, the supervisors were able to mobilize the social workers to use their professional skills to carry out the service, and made the social workers have a deeper understanding of professional knowledge and professional value concept. The evaluation of the practice results showed that the elderly plight of client H had improved significantly compared with that before the intervention, and the expected goal of the casework intervention was basically achieved. Finally, the whole study is summarized and reflected upon. This paper argues that the elderly people living alone with their families face three realistic needs in the process of aging, such as family emotions, community relationship network, and aging-friendly facilities in rental housing. As a matter of fact, the formation of the elderly people’s elderly care problem is the result of the superposition of many factors, and it is necessary to establish and improve the relevant system,as well as to enrich the grassroots community work force, and to strengthen the construction of community social work and other professional talents,so as to better meet the needs of community elderly care development. At the same time, this paper argues that social support theory and strengths perspective theory have strong application value in solving the problem of elderly people living alone with their families, but when applying them,we should abandon the principal theory and seek the intervention of experienced social workers and take into account the wishes of the clients to enhance the intervention effect of casework. In conclusion, this paper argues that it is both academically and practically significant to conduct research on the elderly living alone with the elderly. |
