A Comparative Study Of The High School Mathematics Textbook "Preliminary Solid Geometry"

Textbooks are key elements for teachers and students in the classroom implementation process,and are also important resources for students to learn.Therefore,textbooks are very important,and the comparative study of mathematics textbooks can promote teachers to correctly grasp the new direction of educational reform,thereby promoting the vigorous development of national education.Solid geometry is an important component of high school mathematics textbooks,which has a positive impact on cultivating students’ core literacy.This article selects the content of "Preliminary Solid Geometry" in the textbooks of People’s Education A Edition(2019 Edition)and Beijing Normal University Edition(2019 Edition)as the research object,and compares the two editions of the textbooks in the following four aspects:(1)Stylistic structure,including chapter structure,chapter headings,thinking and exploration,and narration;(2)Arrangement system;(3)Problem sets,including the number,type,and openness of problem sets;(4)Difficulty,including course difficulty and exercise difficulty.At the same time,in order to ensure the accuracy of the research,the number,type,openness,and difficulty of the exercises in the two versions of the textbook were coded and tested for consistency.SPSS 26.0 software was used to conduct descriptive analysis and chi-square testing on the encoded data,providing data support for analyzing the differences between the two versions of the textbook.Research findings:(1)In terms of chapter headings and knowledge arrangement,each has its own characteristics,but both meet the requirements of the Curriculum Standards(2017).(2)There are small differences in the number,openness,and difficulty of exercises,with the curriculum difficulty and exercise difficulty of the People’s Education A version being slightly smaller than those of the Beijing Normal University version.(3)There are significant differences in the types of thinking and exploration,narration,and exercises,with the types and quantities of thinking and exploration and narration columns in the People’s Education A version of the textbook higher than those in the Beijing Normal University version;In terms of exercise types,the People’s Education A version focuses on the setting of judgment questions,drawing questions,and proof questions,while the Beijing Normal University version focuses on the setting of multiple choice questions,calculation questions,and short answer questions.That is to say,the People’s Education A version of the textbook pays more attention to cultivating students’ drawing ability and logical thinking ability,while the Beijing Normal University version of the textbook pays more attention to cultivating students’ computing ability and knowledge application ability.Based on the above research conclusions,the following suggestions are proposed:(1)textbook compilation: optimizing the style structure and promoting students’ thinking;Paying attention to exercise design and developing students’ mathematical literacy;Extend knowledge and strengthen its application.(2)Teacher teaching:Reasonably arrange teaching in accordance with the requirements of the Curriculum Standard(2017);Encourage students to draw pictures and cultivate their spatial imagination;Infiltrate the research methods of solid geometry to overcome key and difficult knowledge;Use information technology tools to implement core literacy.
