In the background of global warming, multiple natural disasters are appearing overlappingly, affecting human survival and productive life as well as sustainable development.Only by understanding disasters and disaster risks can human beings better cope with them.As an important stage of disaster education,it is extremely important to popularize disaster education at the secondary school level, and it is even more crucial to use global-scale disaster maps for disaster education in secondary school geography teaching. At present, the scientific research on disasters is developing rapidly and the results of disaster mapping are increasing, but the disaster maps in secondary school geography teaching can no longer adapt to the current disaster teaching. Therefore, there is an urgent need to translate global-scale natural disaster map materials and multimedia resources from cutting-edge scientific research results for teaching purposes. In order to make the designed and compiled disaster maps can be practically applied in geography teaching, this thesis analyzes the design and arrangement of disaster maps in geography textbooks through literature research and practical evaluation, and determines the design and application research of secondary school teaching maps with the world natural disaster maps as an example.Based on the theoretical basis, the design concept and principles of multi-hazard-multi-layer-multimedia teaching maps are proposed, and based on them,a multi-hazard world natural disaster distribution teaching map and a heat wave disaster and death population risk distribution teaching map are prepared, hoping to solve the problem of few comprehensive multi-hazard teaching maps for high school students and to supplement the lack of new teaching maps in teaching materials for front-line geography teachers.Based on the teaching concept of integrated multi-hazard cognition, this thesis compiles a multi-hazard world natural disaster distribution teaching map, which creatively integrates 12 natural hazards and provides a new teaching map for secondary school students to systematically cognize the global natural disaster distribution pattern. The map is presented dynamically according to single-hazard,circle structure, and integrated map, which solves the problem of the lack of comprehensive multi-hazard teaching maps for secondary school students, realizes the continuity of students’ learning thinking process, and then builds a systematic multi-hazard disaster cognitive system.Based on the teaching concept of learning geographic knowledge useful for life,The heat wave disaster risk educational map prepared in this paper, based on disaster system theory, creatively overlays the disaster-causing factor layer, the disaster-bearing body layer, and the risk layer, while using rich multimedia resources such as sound media, video media and image media for data supplementation,,creates realistic disaster situations, promotes students’ active learning, attaches importance to disaster risk education, and enhances students’ cognition and memory of disasters.Through the teaching method of layer overlay and multimedia presentation,we systematically and deeply understand the connection of each element, improve the speed and efficiency of students’ cognition, and then enhance students’ connition of the background, current situation and future risks of heat wave disasters, and thus achieve the purpose of improving disaster risk awareness. In order to verify the effectiveness of teaching map,we conducted a test for teachers and students by means of questionnaire. Some feedback information not only understands the difference between teachers’ and students’ reading effect, but also evaluates the simplicity and regularity of the teaching map.On the whole, teachers and students can read map well. The two sets of teaching maps supplement the world-scale disaster map materials and complement the disaster teaching map resources, which are important for developing core geography literacy.
