Biology is a natural science that explores the phenomena and essence of life,and is interdisciplinary in nature.The study of biology requires interdisciplinary knowledge and techniques such as physics,chemistry and mathematics.Studying the interdisciplinary knowledge structure of senior secondary biology textbooks can help students understand complex biological knowledge.However,research has shown that teaching materials dominated by sub-disciplinary teaching are limited in the interdisciplinary knowledge they introduce,and the literature on interdisciplinary research in the field of teaching materials is small,so there is an urgent need for more in-depth research in the field of teaching materials.In contrast to traditional methods that cannot accurately describe the connections between textbook contents,complex networks are highly topological abstractions of a large number of real complex systems,which can be used to construct interdisciplinary knowledge structures of biology textbooks with a large number of nodes and complex relationships between nodes,and to analyse the interdisciplinary design features of textbooks through the visual presentation of knowledge structures and network parameters to explore the interdisciplinary knowledge structure research of science subjects in biology textbooks.This study constructs a framework for analysing the interdisciplinary knowledge structure of textbooks in science based on complex network theory,which corresponds the knowledge structure to a network representation approach;and designs a textbook knowledge structure analysis procedure based on this:(1)extracting and coding the knowledge points of the unit of analysis and their linkage features;(2)executing the procedure to generate an interdisciplinary knowledge structure map of textbooks;(3)generating data on the parameters of the knowledge structure map;and(4)Interpreting the knowledge structure mapping and complex network parameters to analyse the interdisciplinary knowledge structure features of the teaching materials.Application The program analyses the interdisciplinary knowledge structure of science subjects in Chapter 2 of Compulsory 1 of Senior Secondary Biology.The analysis revealed that(1)at the micro level,interdisciplinary knowledge is unevenly distributed across different chapters,with varying importance and diversity of specific areas;(2)at the meso level,there is a variety of types of connections and directionality in the different subject knowledge points.(3)At the macro level,the structure of interdisciplinary knowledge is characterised by a small world network,with a low density of structure and a low level of interdisciplinary knowledge linkages between knowledge levels.In view of the above characteristics of the interdisciplinary knowledge structure,the following suggestions are made:(1)teaching materials can give due consideration to the role of content representation,exploration and generation levels when introducing interdisciplinary knowledge,and broaden the functions of the introduced disciplinary knowledge points;(2)appropriately expand the connotation and depth of interdisciplinary knowledge,and promote the transfer and application of knowledge points among the three science disciplines;actively explore the links between science interdisciplinary knowledge and the internal knowledge of other societies,and promote a closer knowledge structure;(3)promote the externalization of interdisciplinary knowledge.
