| The professional life of teachers is an important topic in the field of teacher professional development research.Studies have often considered educational practice as an important part of pre-service teacher preparation, but have not paid enough attention to its impact on the professional lives of in-service mentor teachers. This study takes individual interns, who have the closest relationship with mentor teachers in educational practice,as the entry point to explore the impact of interns’ educational practice activities on the professional life of mentor teachers, and concludes that paying attention to the positive impact of educational practice can motivate school administrators to make the necessary connections between educational practice and the promotion of mentor teachers’ professional growth, prompt interns to participate more actively in educational teaching practice, and at the same time It also promotes the sustainable development of mentor teachers’ careers and enhances the quality of their professional lives. In this study, six administrators and nine "teacher-disciple" pairs involved in educational practice program were selected according to the principle of purposive sampling as the research subjects.Through field observations and in-depth interviews,we analyzed the current perceptions of educational practice from the perspectives of school administrators, mentor teachers and interns, explored the impact of educational practice on the professional lives of mentor teachers, and distilled opinions and attributions. The study found that school administrators have a relatively scientific understanding of educational practice, but mentor teachers and interns have a somewhat biased perception of the educational practice role, which means that they view interns as one-dimensional learners. The positive effects of educational practice on the professional life of mentor teachers mainly include: updating educational concepts and techniques and reflecting on teaching practices;optimizing work arrangements and promoting the return of teaching focus in management;promoting the growth of research topics and inspiring innovation in research forms in scientific research;and gaining partners for consultation and discussion and relieving mental stress in psychology. The increased load on the mentor teachers is reflected in the increased workload of the mentors in the short term, the challenge to the consistency of the educational impact of classroom management, the reduction of teaching efficiency and the increased risk of parent work.Further research found that the important factors that influence the professional life of teachers in educational practices include the establishment of a platform between institutions of higher education and practice schools, the management atmosphere, attitudes and quality of communication in the educational practice field, and the awareness and actions of mentor teachers to continuously develop their professionalism.Based on the above findings, this study proposes the following improvement strategies from four subjects: higher education institutions should establish a "P-S-T" learning community and gradually improve teacher quality of teacher trainees;practice schools establish a general view of education and improving the management system of trainees;interns stimulate the internal drive for self-development and improving interpersonal communication with mentor teachers;mentor teachers update the concept of educational practice and building a cooperative classroom. |
