The Impact Of College Students’ Social Media Use On Developmental Well-being

This study took 18-25 year old college students as the research object,compiled questionnaires with classic scales,selected samples through convenient sampling,and collected data through online questionnaires.Using the software SPSSAU to carry out descriptive statistical analysis,regression analysis,and sequence mediation test analysis on the collected questionnaire data,and analyze the active use of social media,passive use of social media,developmental well-being,social anxiety,online Investigation and data analysis were carried out on the status of online bonding social capital and online bridging social capital.The study found the following.From the survey results:(1)the level of passive use of social media among college students is significantly higher than the level of active use of social media;(2)the level of online bridging social capital of college students is higher than that of offline cohesive social capital.(3)From the perspective of demographic variables,the social anxiety level of male college students is significantly lower than that of female college students,the level of online bonding social capital and developmental well-being is higher than that of female college students,and the level of online bridging social capital is slightly higher than that of female college students.female college student.From the regression analysis results:(1)Active use of social media leads to lower levels of social anxiety,higher levels of online bonding social capital,and higher levels of online bridging social capital than passive use of social media.and higher level of developmental well-being;(2)Online bridging social capital has a more positive effect on college students’ developmental well-being than online bonding social capital;(3)Passive use of social media and social anxiety have no significant effect It has a significant positive impact on the development of happiness,online bridging social capital,and online bonding social capital.The results of the mediation test show that:(1)social anxiety plays a partial mediating role between the active use of social media and the development of well-being,and the mediating effect accounts for 24.042% of the total effect;(2)social anxiety plays a role in the passive use of social media and the development of well-being(3)Online bridging social capital plays a partial mediating role between the active use of social media and the development of happiness,and the mediating effect accounts for 46.375% of the total effect;(4)Online bridging social capital It plays a complete mediating role between the passive use of social media and the development of well-being;(5)The online adhesive social capital of college students plays a partial mediating role between the active use of social media and the development of well-being,and the mediating effect accounts for 43.586 of the total effect.%;(6)College students’ online cohesive social capital plays a complete mediating role between the passive use of social media and the development of well-being.The research implications are as follows:(1)In order to reduce social anxiety and improve well-being,in the process of using social media for interpersonal communication,college students should accept themselves and adjust their motivation levels in interpersonal communication;(2)use social media When using social media,social media should be used in a way of active communication and authentic self-presentation;(3)For college students,online bridging social capital has a more positive effect than online bonding social capital.
