The Relationship Between Parenting Style And Aggressive Behavior In Middle School Students:The Mediating Role Of Self-Control

In recent years,the implementation of school bullying incidents among students through various means has seriously affected the physical and mental health of adolescents,and these attacks have caused certain troubles to families and schools.Previous studies have shown that aggressive behavior in middle school students is associated with parental parenting,but there is relatively little research on how parental parenting influences aggressive behavior through self-control.Therefore,this study plans to use the "Adolescent Aggression Scale ","Self-Control Scale" and "Simplified Parenting Style Questionnaire" to conduct a questionnaire survey on1200 students in two ordinary middle schools in Huanggang City,Hubei Province,to explore the relationship between the three variables of parenting style,aggressive behavior and self-control of middle school students,aiming to improve the self-control ability of middle school students and reduce the number of aggressive behaviors.The findings suggest:(1)There are significant differences in parental parenting styles,self-control,and aggressive behavior among secondary school students in gender and grade level;there are no significant differences in whether they are only children and where they live.(2)There is a correlation between parental parenting styles,self-control and aggressive behavior among middle school students.There was a significant positive correlation between parental emotional warmth and self-control;there was a significant negative correlation between self-control and aggressive behavior;there was a significant negative correlation between parental emotional warmth and aggressive behavior;(3)Self-control plays a mediating role between parental parenting style and aggressive behavior,parental rejection and parental overprotectiveness in parenting mode will directly affect the aggressive behavior of middle school students,and will also affect the aggressive behavior of middle school students by affecting self-control ability,and self-control plays a complete mediating role between parental emotional warmth and aggressive behavior.The conclusion of the study: Parents adopt reasonable parenting methods,which can promote the formation of good self-control skills in middle school students,thereby reducing the occurrence of aggressive behavior.
