In contemporary society, many families consist of young parents who are both employed full-time,leaving them often too busy to take care of their children. As a result, some grandparents have taken on the responsibility of looking after their grandchildren. However, most of these grandparent caregivers are unaware of how to impart sex education to their grandchildren, with some even considering it a taboo and refusing to discuss it.This has led to the majority of children lacking correct understanding about sex, with some having minimal awareness at all. Moreover, children’s underdeveloped language abilities often prevent them from articulating their sufferings, which provides an opportunity for potential predators.Female children,as a vulnerable group in society, are more susceptible to sexual assault. Therefore, the importance of protecting them from such harm is increasingly prominent. This study targets female children raised by their grandparents and investigates the current state and needs of sexual assault prevention education among these children in T community, using participatory observation, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews with the children themselves, their parents, and schools.Based on social learning theory,Freud’s theory of personality development, and Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development,we have designed six group activities as effective interventions. The effectiveness of social work intervention was then evaluated by pre-test and post-test comparisons, demonstrating the positive role of social work in intervening in the sexual assault prevention education of female children raised by grandparents. Finally, this study reflects on practical explorations of sexual assault prevention education for such female children. It hopes to provide a reference for future researchers investigating related issues and to enhance self-protection awareness and effective sexual assault prevention skills among female children raised by grandparents. |
