A Practical Study Of Mutual Assistance Group Intervention In The Social Integration Of Persons With Disabilities

There are a large number of disabled people in China,who are in the marginal position of society and are vulnerable groups in society.They need social attention and support in many aspects.At present,there are about 85 million disabled people in China.Compared with other groups,they still have many obstacles in economic income,living security,education,rehabilitation services,employment security,protection of rights and interests,marriage and family life and social integration,which need social attention and support.At the same time,the Chinese government also attaches great importance to the cause of the disabled and vigorously promotes the coordinated development of the cause of the disabled with the economy and society.In the Opinions of the State Council on Accelerating the Process of Well-off Society for Disabled Persons promulgated in 2015,it is also emphasized that "efforts should be made to improve the basic public service level for disabled persons","further improve the basic public service system for disabled persons,strengthen service capacity,and create more convenient conditions and a more friendly environment for the integrated development of disabled persons".This paper focuses on the social integration of disabled people,and investigates and visits 32 disabled people in L community of D city.Through questionnaire survey,interview and observation,we know the basic situation of 32 disabled people,the problems encountered in the process of social integration and the current situation of social integration.After communicating with 32 disabled people and fully understanding the wishes and realistic conditions of the parties,we select 8 physically disabled people as the service targets.Using the professional method of group work,relying on the social integration theory,social support network theory and advantage perspective theory of social work,a mutual aid group was developed for eight people with physical disabilities.Through the interactive support among the members,their psychological pressure was relieved,the problems encountered in the process of social integration were solved,and the people with physical disabilities were promoted to smoothly integrate into society.The group activities are divided into eight times,with the themes of "interpersonal communication","physical function recovery training","rehabilitation knowledge explanation","friends coming and friends going" and "singing loudly",etc.Through the process evaluation and result evaluation of each group activity,we can master the effect of group activities and the change of service objects.Through the evaluation of clients’ results,it is found that people with physical disabilities have expanded their interpersonal network,improved their self-care ability,mastered scientific rehabilitation knowledge,relieved their psychological pressure and regained their confidence in life.Generally speaking,the intervention of group work has certain effect,but there are still many shortcomings to be improved.The author also thinks about the corresponding problems and puts forward some suggestions.
