The General Senior Secondary Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2017Edition Revised 2020)states that a holistic grasp of teaching can promote the development of core literacy in mathematics,structure curriculum content,lead by themes,contextualize curriculum content and promote the implementation of core literacy in the subject,and that unit teaching design has the function of overall planning of teaching content and is the method and approach to mathematics teaching design advocated by the new philosophy It is a method and approach to teaching and learning in mathematics advocated by the new philosophy.Based on the literature research,we have chosen the ADDIE as the theoretical model,taken the unit "Concepts and Properties of Functions",which is related to mathematical modelling literacy,as an example,analysed the teaching elements of the unit,explored the connection between the unit content and mathematical modelling literacy,and prepared a pre-and post-test paper that meets the objectives of the study.The study also examines the effectiveness of the module design and practice by developing a pre-test and post-test paper that meet the objectives of the study.The study shows that:(1)teaching the unit "Concepts and Properties of Functions" based on the development of students’ mathematical modelling literacy can help students develop their mathematical modelling literacy.(2)A unit on "Concepts and Properties of Functions" based on the development of mathematical modelling literacy can increase the pass rate of students and improve the pass rate of students who are already passing.The following are suggestions for teaching a unit based on the development of mathematical modelling literacy: implement the curriculum reform and focus on core literacy;emphasise the development of objectives and highlight the core literacy of mathematics;consider students’ circumstances and design the unit as a whole;strengthen professionalism and emphasise the choice of classroom teaching strategies;develop modelling thinking and train students to be good at using mathematics.
