In the past two decades, domestic physical health research data have shown that the physical health level of college students has continued to decline. In order to change this phenomenon and improve the physical health of college students, the State Council has issued a number of regulations, regulations and plans, but the effect is not satisfactory. The physical health of college students has not been effectively improved. How to scientifically and effectively improve the physical health of college students is a key issue that needs to be solved urgently. For a long time, people have generally used Medium-intensity continuous training(MICT)to improve their health, but medium-intensity exercise takes a long time to achieve the desired effect. In recent years,High-intensity interval training(HIIT)has attracted more and more people’s attention and favor because of its time-saving training, high exercise intensity and good training effect. What is the impact of the two training methods on promoting physical health, and which training method is more effective, this issue still needs further research. In particular, there are obvious differences in exercise intensity, exercise time and exercise methods between high-intensity interval training and medium-intensity continuous training. Therefore, this study investigates the effects of HIIT and MICT on the physical fitness of college students and compares the effects of the two training methods on the improvement of college students’ physical fitness,in order to provide a scientific basis for the selection of training methods and the improvement of training effects in the future. The study includes both Meta-analysis and empirical study.Study 1: Based on strict adherence to the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Evaluation of Interventions,Chinese databases such as China Knowledge Network,Vipshop, and Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform were searched using HIIT,high-intensity interval training,MICT,moderate-intensity continuous training, physical fitness, and college students as search terms.Literature screening and quality evaluation were conducted according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and quality evaluation criteria, and the final Meta-analysis was performed on the nine included original papers. The results of the study were as follows.A total of 9 RCTs were included, with a sample size of 446 subjects, and the results of the study showed that, compared with MICT controls,HIIT was more effective in improving spirometry(SMD=144.79,95% CI: 59.59,229.98;P=0.0009),standing long jump(SMD=3.29,95% CI: 0.76,5.82;P=0.01),50 m run(SMD=-0.20,95% CI:-0.30,-0.10;P=0.0001),1000 m run(SMD=-8.93,95% CI:-14.07,-3.78;P=0.0007),800 m run(SMD=-7.56,95% CI:-12.09,-3.02;P= 0.001)metrics had a significant effect on the small to high effect size.Other indicators were compared to MICT,although there was no significant difference and the total effect size was better than MICT.Study 2: Sixty college students were selected as experimental subjects through open recruitment. The subjects were randomly divided into experimental and control groups using computerized random sequence software, with 30 subjects in each group.HIIT was performed in the experimental group and MICT was performed in the control group for 45 minutes three times a week for 8 weeks. Before the start of the experiment and after the end of the experiment, all subjects were tested for physical fitness of college students. Finally, the physical fitness test scores of the subjects in the experimental and control groups were collected, organized and analyzed, and the data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 software. The results of the study were as follows.(1)Body shape: after 8 weeks of experimental intervention, the HIIT group showed a significant decrease in BMI before and after the intervention, and the results were statistically significant(P < 0.01).the MICT group showed a significant decrease in BMI before and after the intervention, and the results were statistically significant(P < 0.01).This indicates that both training methods were effective in reducing BMI and improving the body shape of college students.(2)Physical function: After 8 weeks of experimental intervention, the lung capacity of the HIIT group increased significantly before and after the intervention, and the results were statistically significant(P < 0.01).The lung capacity of the MICT group increased significantly before and after the intervention, and the results were statistically significant(P < 0.01).This indicates that both training methods were effective in increasing lung capacity and improving physical function of college students.(3)Physical fitness: After 8 weeks of experimental intervention, the results of50 m run,800 m run,1000 m run and one-minute sit-ups in the HIIT group before and after the intervention were statistically significant(P < 0.01),indicating that HIIT was effective in improving the speed, endurance and strength of college students. The results were statistically significant(P < 0.05),indicating that MICT was effective in improving the endurance and strength qualities of college students.(4)Compared with MICT,HIIT was more effective in improving the performance of 50 m run,800 m run and 1000 m run,and the results were statistically significant(P < 0.05),while other indexes were not significantly different compared with MICT,and the intervention effect was better than MICT.Conclusion:Based on the meta-analysis and empirical study of the effects of HIIT and MICT on college students’ physical fitness,it was concluded that(1)HIIT is more effective than MICT in improving the physical health of college students, but higher quality studies are needed to neutralize the study design, sample bias, and methodological flaws in order to better apply HIIT in practice.(2)After 8 weeks of experimental intervention under the same conditions,HIIT was more effective than MICT in improving the physical fitness of college students. |
