| With the release of the Opinions on Further Reducing the Burden of Homework and Off-Campus Training for Students in Compulsory Education in 2021,a new trend in compulsory education reform was initiated nationwide.However,the reduction of students’ burden has brought new challenges to teachers increasing their workload,which is a problem that needs to be concerned and solved by society and academia and concerns the construction of the teaching force and the development of education.In this study,elementary school teachers in W County of Z Province were used as the target population,and research methods such as questionnaires and interviews were used to investigate and understand the basic situation of elementary school teachers in the county,the status of work time allocation,and the status of subjective feelings about workload,analyze the problems and explore improvement strategies.A total of 287 questionnaires were distributed in this survey.Statistical tools such as SPSS26.0 and EXCEL were mainly used to organize and analyze the questionnaire data,and the results of interviews were combined to analyze the basic situation of elementary school teachers in County W,the differences among variables,and the subjective feeling of workload.The survey showed that elementary school teachers in County W were generally overburdened with work.This is manifested in the following points: long working hours,life and career development hindered;time-consuming information exchange,polarized teacher-parent communication;ponderous work,many non-teaching tasks,and high intensity;lack of variation in school evaluation and assessment,too mechanical and other problems.On this basis,the reasons for the excessive workload of elementary school teachers in County W were analyzed from four aspects: teacher’s deviated roles and lack of professional competence;parents despise family education and have high expectations of teachers;schools’ formalized teaching management and insufficient humanistic care;and society’s stereotypical impression of teachers.Based on the analysis of the above reasons,suggestions for improvement were made: first,teachers should clarify their positioning and continuously improve themselves.Secondly,parents should establish a correct view of education.Third,schools need to integrate humanistic care into the teaching management process.Fourth,the formation of social expectations requires the joint efforts of many parties. |
