The unit teaching of "The Cultural Life in Hometown" breaks away from the traditional selection type teaching and uses the activity section to compose the learning content,which plays a pivotal role in enhancing students’ core language literacy and cultural confidence,and building their sense of home and country.However,due to it’s high practical,investigative and participatory nature of the unit,it also places higher demands on teachers’ professionalism,students’ learning ability and the school’s guarantee mechanism,and therefore encounters some problems in the implementation.As a traditional Chinese wisdom,the embodied knowing emphasizes the pursuit of knowledge and conscious practice to achieve moral education,which is in line with the concept of the unit teaching of "The Cultural Life in Hometown",and can be a source of motivation to solve the problems.In view of this,guided by the "General High School Language Curriculum Standards(revised in 2017 and 2020)"(hereinafter referred to as the "Curriculum Standards"),this thesis will take the unit teaching of "The Cultural Life in Hometown" as the theme,and focus on the main line of "basic overview-analysis of the current situation-discovery of problems-solution path-presentation of solutions".Based on the previous theories and experiences,the thesis will use the method of literature research,questionnaire survey,and case study to investigate and analyze the current situation of unit teaching of "The Cultural Life in Hometown" in G middle school of S city,Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps,and propose the optimization strategy and teaching design under the perspective of "Embodied Knowing".The full paper consists of five parts.Chapter 1 mainly discusses the background and significance of the study,the current status and review of the study,the research ideas and methods,the definition of core concepts and other related contents.Chapter 2 explains the format and intention of the "Cultural Life of the Hometown" module.At the same time,the feasibility of integrating the concept of embodied knowing into the teaching of the unit "Cultural Life in Hometown" is analyzed from three aspects: teaching objectives,educational approaches,and educational dilemmas.Chapter 3 investigates the current situation of the unit teaching of "The Cultural Life in Hometown" in S.G.Through the analysis of the survey data,I summarize the current problems of the unit teaching.Containing the analysis of the questionnaire and the reference of specific cases,Chapter 4 proposes the implementation strategies of the unit teaching of "The Cultural Life in Hometown" from three connotations of embodied knowing: embodied knowing from body and heart,putting embodied knowing into practice,and practicing embodied knowing to humanity.Chapter 5proposes strategies to design the teaching,and reflects and summarizes the implementation to provide effective reference for the teachers in front line.
