| As mobile phones are used more and more frequently in People’s Daily life, the problem of mobile phone dependence is attracting more and more attention. Many scholars at home and abroad have analyzed the influencing factors of mobile phone dependence, but most of the researches are conducted on college students. In view of the trend of younger mobile phone dependent groups, especially the high frequency of use of rural junior high school students,it is urgent to further explore the influence of mobile phone dependence. This paper takes rural junior high school students as the research object, and explores the mediating role of loneliness of rural junior high school students in the process of social support predicting mobile phone dependence. And the moderating role of self-esteem in this mediating effect. In this study,454 junior middle school students from 3 rural junior middle schools in Hunan province were surveyed by using the self-designed demographic information questionnaire, mobile phone dependence scale, social support scale,self-esteem scale and loneliness scale through cluster sampling. The findings are as follows:(1)88.1% of rural junior middle school students have their own mobile phones, and 25.99% of rural junior middle school students have mobile phone-dependent behaviors.(2)There are no significant gender differences in mobile phone dependence, loneliness and self-esteem of rural junior middle school students, and no significant differences in mobile phone motivation, but significant differences in grades and mobile phone necessity; There was no significant gender difference in social support, but significant difference in grades, necessity of mobile phones and motivation to use mobile phones. This suggests that non-essential and high-achieving rural junior high school students have lower mobile phone dependence, higher levels of social support and self-esteem,and experience less loneliness.(3)There is a significant correlation between mobile phone dependence and loneliness, social support and self-esteem of rural junior middle school students.High mobile phone dependence is associated with high loneliness, and low social support and low self-esteem.(4)The loneliness of rural junior middle school students partially mediated the prediction of social support on mobile phone dependence, and self-esteem moderated the first half of the mediation effect. These results indicate that social support can not only directly negatively predict the mobile phone dependence of junior middle school students in rural areas, but also affect the mobile phone dependence of junior middle school students by reducing loneliness, and the decreasing effect of social support on loneliness is more obvious at high self-esteem level. |
