Pretend play has a major role in the development of children’s play,it can promote children’s cognitive, language and other abilities, enrich children’s social emotions, develop action, sports and other skills. Thus, pretend play is used as an indicator of early cognitive, social and language skill development in children.A series of realistic activities in pretend play can lay a foundation for children’s reasoning and thinking at a higher level.Compared with other children in the general population, children with autism often exhibit repetitive,non-functional behaviors(such as rotating, arranging objects, etc.)in play, and show less variety and less frequency in pretend play.In the DSM-Ⅳ revision, atypical development of play was included as a diagnostic criterion for autism. As one of the core symptoms of autistic children, the deficiency of pretend play ability is reflected in the deficiency of social communication and interaction. Therefore, children with autism should properly improve their ability to pretend play,to understand daily life events, relationships and emotions between people,to promote communication with peers,so as to further develop their creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.Video demonstration teaching is a proven and effective teachingmethod for autistic children, which is gradually developed based on Bandura’s social learning theory. It combines the advantages of observational learning and visual learning, and is more suitable for autistic children who are superior in visual processing. Therefore,in recent years,it has been more and more applied in the teaching intervention of autistic children. In this study, video demonstration teaching was adopted to intervene in the pretend play skills of 3 autistic children by using cross-subject multi-baseline experimental design of single subject experimental design. This study ‘s main purpose is to explore the effect of video demonstration teaching on the pretend play skills of autistic children. The intervention process of this study will go through four stages: baseline, intervention, maintenance and generalization. After the intervention, visual analysis,C statistics and social validity were used to analyze the effect of the intervention.Among the findings:(1)Video demonstration teaching has an immediate effect, sustained effect and good social validity on the intervention of autistic children’s pretend play skills.(2)The effect of video demonstration teaching on the generalization of pretend play skills in autistic children is not so good.(3)There are individual differences in the immediate, maintenance and generalization effects of video demonstration teaching on the pretend play skills of autistic children.(4)Video demonstration teaching has a better effect on children with autism in pretending to play than pretending to play accompanied language. |
