| Purpose: To explore the application of the new land dragon boat in the physical education curriculum of higher vocational colleges,demonstrate the teaching value and cultural value of the new land dragon boat through experiments,understand whether students are willing to participate in the sport,understand the problems faced by the school in carrying out the sport,demonstrate the positive impact of the new land dragon boat on students’ physical quality,promote students’ participation in sports,and promote the school to pay attention to the promotion and development of dragon boat sport,To provide effective help and suggestions for incorporating it into the physical education curriculum.Methods: a questionnaire survey was conducted among 140 students from Wuxi tourism and trade branch of Jiangsu United vocational and technical college to find out whether they like China’s traditional ethnic culture and sports,their interest in participating in the new land dragon boat,and the factors that the new land dragon boat is more suitable for school physical education courses than the traditional dragon boat.And through the 15 week intervention experiment,48 students of grade 2020 in Wuxi tourism and trade branch of Jiangsu United vocational and technical college were divided into groups(24 in the experimental group and 24 in the control group),to demonstrate the impact of the new land dragon Boat Sport on the four aspects of cardiopulmonary function,muscle strength,flexibility and body composition of students in higher vocational colleges,analyze the changes of various qualities of the participants before and after the experiment,and draw the corresponding conclusions.Results:(1)According to the questionnaire,most students said they did not know about Dragon Boat Sports,and no students said they would associate Dragon Boat Sports with physical education courses,but more than 78% of the students said they were interested in Dragon Boat Sports;More than half of the students expressed interest in ethnic culture and were willing to shoulder the inheritance of China’s ethnic culture.It can be seen that the new land dragon boat sport can not only enhance the interest of Vocational College Students in participating in sports,but also strengthen their physique.It can also build ethnic self-confidence and inherit ethnic culture.It is suggested to include it in the physical education curriculum of vocational colleges.(2)According to the questionnaire,the main factors restricting Dragon Boat Sports from being included in the campus physical education curriculum are the problems of venues,equipment and teachers;More than 80% of the students said that the new land dragon boat could solve the above problems well.It can be seen that the new land dragon boat sport is not restricted by the site,the equipment is more simplified,the personnel are not restricted,and the potential safety hazards are reduced.It can carry forward China’s traditional culture and increase the interest of the classroom.It is feasible to incorporate it into the physical education curriculum of higher vocational colleges.(3)In the cardiopulmonary function test,after 15 weeks of intervention experiment,the maximum vital capacity of male and female students in the experimental group was significantly improved(P value of both male and female students was 0.001 <0.05),and there was no significant improvement in the control group(P value >0.05).After the experiment,there was a significant difference between the two groups(P value of 0.001<0.05),Compared with traditional sports,the new land dragon boat has a more significant effect on the improvement of cardiopulmonary function of vocational college students.(4)In the muscle strength test,after 15 weeks of intervention,the upper limb strength of male and female students in the experimental group was significantly improved(P = 0.001 and 0.008 < 0.05);Core strength was significantly improved(P =0.002 and 0.004 <0.05);There was no significant improvement in lower limb strength(P = 0.794 and 0.441 > 0.05),and there was no significant improvement in the three test scores of the control group.In the comparison between groups,except for the lower limb strength test,there was a significant difference in the test results of upper limb strength and core strength between the two groups(P < 0.05);It can be seen that compared with traditional sports,the new land dragon boat has a more significant effect on the improvement of upper limb strength and core strength of vocational college students.(5)In the body composition test,after 15 weeks of intervention,the weight of male and female students in the experimental group decreased significantly(P = 0.001 and 0.003 <0.05),the muscle mass increased significantly(P = 0.001 and 0.003<0.05),and the body fat rate decreased significantly(P = 0.001<0.05);In the control group,there were no significant changes in muscle mass and body fat rate except for the significant decrease in body weight of female students.There were significant differences in body weight,muscle mass and body fat ratio between the experimental group and the control group(P < 0.05).It can be seen that compared with traditional sports,the new land dragon boat has a more significant effect on improving the body composition of students in higher vocational colleges.(6)In the flexibility index test,after 15 weeks of intervention experiment,the flexibility of both male and female students in the experimental group was significantly improved(P < 0.05),while that of the control group was not significantly improved.In the comparison between groups after the experiment,there was a significant difference in the flexibility index test between the two groups(P < 0.05).It can be seen that compared with traditional sports,the new land dragon boat has a more significant effect on improving the flexibility of students in higher vocational colleges.
