The smooth holding of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games is a transmission of China’s Olympic spirit and a display of China’s image as a powerful country,which is of great significance to China.However,the hosting of large-scale sports events will face various crisis events,which can affect the entire event and even have a negative impact on the host country.Crisis communication refers to an information dissemination activity that effectively controls crises through the use of media and other means of communication,enabling crises to develop in a more favorable direction and reducing competition risks.This article is based on the theory of situational crisis communication,and uses research methods such as literature review,case analysis,and interview to study the crisis communication of large-scale sports events.The innovation of this article is to combine the hot topics in the sports industry,sort out,compare,and summarize the crisis communication of large-scale sports events,and summarize a suitable crisis communication response plan for China.The article selects some large-scale sports events held between the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games,mainly including the 2008 Beijing Olympics,the 2009 Shandong National Games,the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games,the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics,the2017 Tianjin National Games,and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.Some typical events are selected for case analysis.By reviewing literature and conducting interviews with relevant scholars,we aim to gain a deeper understanding of the experiences of major sports events in the face of crises over the years,and summarize and analyze them,in order to provide reference plans for crisis communication in other major sports events.The article consists of an introduction,main body,and conclusion,designed according to the following logic: The first part is an introduction,mainly introducing the reason for the topic selection,research purpose and significance,research status,and research methods.The second part of the crisis analysis of large-scale sports events aims to elaborate on the types and characteristics of crises in large-scale sports events,with the aim of providing a preliminary understanding of large-scale sports events,which belongs to the stage of raising questions.The third part is the key part of this article,which combines the theory of situational crisis communication to conduct a case analysis of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.The aim is to analyze the crisis faced by the Beijing Winter Olympics in special crisis situations,provide a template for analyzing crisis situations in special events,and lay the foundation for proposing crisis communication models.It belongs to the stage of analyzing problems.The fourth part is the conclusion of this article.Based on the previous review and case analysis of large-scale sports event crises,suggestions are proposed for crisis communication in large-scale sports events.Corresponding crisis communication strategies are formulated from different stages of crisis development,which belongs to the problem-solving stage.The fifth part reflects on the crisis communication of large-scale sports events from a macro level,and sublimates the article.The conclusion summarizes the above content and points out the limitations of this study. |
