In recent years, the important value of early childhood labour education in fostering the all-round development of individuals has received increasing attention.General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech on labour education at the2018 National Education Conference.on 20 March 2020,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issued the Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening Labour Education in Schools and Universities in the New Era,which provides a systematic design and comprehensive plan on comprehensively implementing the Party’s education policy and strengthening labour education in schools and universities. At present, labour education in kindergartens has attracted attention and discussion in the field of pre-school education. In the course of our daily education and teaching,we find that most of our children are the "little suns" of the whole family, and they are always overly taken care of by their parents, and under the "care" of their parents, most of them have poor self-care skills.Therefore,self-service education for older children is an inevitable need.It not only allows children to be educated about labour from an early age,but also nurtures excellent builders and reliable successors of China’s socialist modernisation, who will develop well in moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic aspects. It also meets the needs of young children’s inner development and responds to their playful and active nature,so that they can have a comprehensive and harmonious development of body and mind, and thus be better adapted to primary school life.In this study,Kindergarten A,a large class(Rainbow Class)in Urumqi Autonomous Region Model Garden, was selected as the research sample.Through pre-study observations and interviews,it was found that self-service education activities in this kindergarten were scattered throughout the children’s day and were random in nature, lacking scientific guidance and methods of education;kindergarten teachers lacked understanding of children’s self-service cognition, and their educational goals and educational content were unclear;parents were relatively supportive of children’s self-service education, but lacked scientific guidance methods for self-service education. An action research study on self-service education in Kindergarten A was conducted to provide guidelines for the implementation of self-service education in Kindergarten A.In this action research,a cycle of "plan-implement-reflect-replan-implement" was used to intervene in the self-service education of the older children. The first step was to diagnose the problem of self-service education in the third class(Rainbow Class),design an action plan to address the problem, then implement the plan, observe and reflect on the three stages of self-care education for children in play, learning and life, and on the basis of this reflection, plan and implement again to ensure that the children in the third class The class will develop a correct awareness of self-service,improve their self-service skills and develop good self-service habits. At the same time, two actions are carried out at each stage to explore the effects of action research and to summarise the strategies for the development of self-service education activities in the older class(Rainbow Class). The results of the action research show that the development of self-service habits should be the core objective of self-service education for older children, and that the development of children’s self-service awareness,self-service ability and self-service habits are complementary and mutually reinforcing;close home cooperation can effectively promote the development of self-service education activities.Based on the results of the action research, the following three suggestions are made: firstly,it is suggested that kindergartens should develop a school-based curriculum system for self-service education in a planned manner;secondly, teachers should enrich the content and teaching methods;thirdly, cooperation between homes should be strengthened and resources for self-service education in the community and society should be explored;and fourthly, safety education in self-service education should be emphasized.
