In recent years, the rise of driverless technology has made the video transmission bandwidth of vehicle platform larger and larger, and "bandwidth" has become one of the biggest challenges facing automobile manufacturers. On the one hand,as more and more cameras are needed outside the vehicle, how to transmit the signal between the outside camera and the driver’s position display screen in the vehicle at high speed and reliably has become an urgent problem to be solved; At the same time, with the improvement of video resolution, the demand for bandwidth of infotainment systems has increased dramatically, and the demand for transmitting megapixel resolution images in vehicles is increasingly urgent. Therefore, the speed of the traditional CAN bus transmission link and Ethernet transmission link is not enough to support the requirements of today’s automobile high-speed interconnection. In order to solve the problems faced by future automotive systems,Maxim company has launched a new Gigabit multimedia serial link(gmsl)technology to support the broadband, interconnection complexity and data integrity requirements of future ADAS and infotainment systems. As the automobile moves towards a new era of intelligence, gmsl technology simplifies the transmission link, paves the way for high-speed data transmission, and will be widely used in future driverless platforms and unmanned combat vehicles. This paper mainly studies the vehicle video acquisition and storage technology based on gmsl interface.Firstly, the latest trends of gmsl interface technology and the application status of related technologies are investigated, and the gmsl interface protocol and transmission mechanism are deeply studied.Secondly, taking FPGA and dm8168 embedded dual core heterogeneous processor as the core control chip,an on-board video acquisition and storage system based on gmsl interface is designed, the overall design scheme and hardware architecture are given, and the hardware circuit design of the system is completed. Then, the software design of embedded system development environment construction and Linux kernel transplantation is carried out,the experiment is simulated by ISE’s own simulator and modelsim simulation software, and the physical code burning and experimental simulation verification are completed. Finally, the experimental system is built to verify the technical feasibility of the hardware and software system. The experimental results show that the embedded vehicle video acquisition and storage system designed in this paper has compact structure, complete functions and reliable performance. It realizes the real-time acquisition, timestamp marking and local lossless storage of video data through one gmsl interface, compresses and encodes the collected video data, and realizes data output in the form of network interface, which is convenient for long-distance transmission and monitoring of data.
