The Analects of has a profound impact on the culture of the Chinese nation. That is an important carrier of Confucian ideology and culture, and is also the spiritual symbol and cultural essence of Chinese civilization. In today’s complex international situation and increasingly fierce competition for comprehensive national strength among countries, the external communication of The Analects of Confucius is a way to show China’s cultural heritage to the world,as well as to construct a Chinese discourse and narrative system. It is also an important way for China to go global and strive for its own cultural initiative. Therefore, this article starts with the ideological value and dissemination value of The Analects of Confucius, and reviews the translation of The Analects of Confucius by foreign translators and domestic scholars since the Ming Dynasty, the first Latin translation of The Analects of Confucius.Over the past 400 years,The Analects of Confucius has been translated into dozens of languages, including English,French,Italian,German,Russian, and other languages, including full and partial translations. At present,in the context of the "the Belt and Road Initiative",some non lingual and multilingual translations have also been published. These translations are a significant manifestation of the vitality of The Analects of Confucius overseas, and also a phenomenon of the spread of Confucian culture overseas. This article will use the OCLC platform of Beijing Foreign Studies University to query the number of libraries in the world that have collected translations,so as to statistics and analyze the dissemination scope and impact of The Analects of Confucius overseas. After collecting basic data, the author will analyze the translator, publishing house, and dissemination scope of the translation of The Analects of Confucius based on the communication theory and cross-cultural communication related knowledge. And then, the author using research methods such as book history research and literature analysis, and study the dissemination and circulation characteristics of The Analects of Confucius around the world.First,if the subject of translation has a greater influence worldwide, the scope of dissemination of the version he has translated will be greater, and there will be more libraries that collect the translated version;Secondly, the dissemination of translated texts is also related to the influence of publishing houses in the field of paper media. The editing style and publishing standards of publishing houses are all factors that affect readers’ choice;Thirdly, readers’ acceptance is related to their understanding of Chinese culture,as well as their motivation to choose a translation. If it is for academic research, they will choose some more influential, comprehensive, and authoritative translations. However,if they only understand and use it as a recreational reading material, the requirements for the subject of translation and the publishing house are not high, and they only need the translation to be smooth and easy to understand. Finally, based on the data and the current situation, the author concludes that it is still necessary to strengthen the external translation of The Analects of Confucius at present, adopt a Chinese-Western translation group, invite some wellknown experts and scholars to participate in the translation, and use some academic forums and exchange activities to expand the influence of the translation in the world, making the external translation of The Analects of Confucius a long-term strategy,Promote the construction of a Chinese discourse and narrative system, strive for the initiative in cultural communication, and allow the " The Analects of Confucius " to be more widely, deeply, and comprehensively disseminated.
