Save History With Archive,Integrate Archive And Local Record:Research On Zhu Shijia’s Archival Thought

Zhu Shijia is a famous local chronicler and bibliographer in contemporary China,and his work "Comprehensive Records of Local Chronicles of China" is an important achievement in the research field of local Chronicles.As an intern in the National Archives of the United States,Zhu Shijia introduced American archive management experience and the work of Archiviology into China,collected and organized the archives of Sino-US relations,and participated in the American Association of Archivists.He was a pioneer in the study and introduction of western archiviology.Zhu Shijia formed a distinctive archival thought in the practice of archival collection and arrangement and the study of local records in the United States.With the integration of archival document compilation and archival and local records,its contemporary value has become increasingly prominent.But at present,the archival scholars have insufficient understanding of Zhu Shijia’s archival achievements and thought,and his historical status of archival science are little known.Therefore,this paper studies Zhu Shijia from the perspective of archival science,taking Zhu Shijia’s two archival historical data compilation results and local records as the entry point,and explores his archival thought.On the basis of obtaining a large number of documents from Chinese and foreign databases,this paper tries to form a comprehensive,objective and accurate understanding of Zhu Shijia’s archival achievements and thought by combining various research methods such as literature research method and comparative research method.Paper according to Zhu Shijia’s experience of three stages to introduce his academic life,and then from the political background,the cultural background of the establishment of Archival science,Zhu Shijia’s academic background and his archival work practice expounds the origin of his archival thought.Secondly,this paper systematically introduces the compilation process of Zhu Shijia’s two archival historical materials according to the topics of archival document compilation,examination and selection,arrangement,examination and processing,auxiliary articles and publication utilization,and summarizes his archival document compilation thought.Thirdly,based on his works on local records,the paper expounds Zhu Shijia’s understanding of Zhang Xuecheng’s thought on archival document compilation,his understanding of the relationship between archives and local records,and studies the archival thought embodied in his theory of old local Chronicles compilation and new local Chronicles compilation.Finally,the paper summarizes the characteristics,value and contemporary enlightenment of Zhu Shijia’s thought of archival science.
