Study On The Influence Of Population Age Structure On Consumption Rate On Chinese Residents

Since the beginning of the 21 st century,China’s imports and exports have been greatly challenged because of the changes in the international situation and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.The investment has reached a full state,and consumption,one of the three engines of economic development,has become an important part of improving economic growth.Based on the associated research indicates that different population age structure can promote economic growth,plays an important character,but the impact of population age structure on consumption has positive role in promoting or inhibiting effect,has been controversial,therefore,it’s important to prove the effect of changes in population age structure on consumption.This paper combines theoretical research and empirical analysis to research the impact of population age structure on urban and rural residents’ consumption rate.By adding variables such as child dependency ratio,elderly dependency ratio,inheritance giving motivation and insurance payment mechanism to the basic generation overlapping model,this paper analyzes the influence of population age structure change on household consumption rate theoretically using the extended three-stage generation overlapping theory model.The result of theoretical analysis displays that the proportion of children and the elderly have a positive promoting effect on the resident’s consumption rate.On the theoretical factor analysis,static and dynamic panel data models are established respectively,and the influence of population age structure on resident consumption rate is analyzed by using urban and rural panel data of31 provinces and cities.The real diagnosis analysis indicates that there are inertial exist consumption both urban and rural.The proportion of children has positive promoting effect on urban consumption rate,and has reverse effect on rural consumption rate.The proportion of elderly has a negative effect on the consumption rate of urban residents and a pulling effect on the consumption rate of rural residents.The improvement of my paper is mainly embodied in the two aspects :(1)in the theoretical factor analysis,this paper introduces variables such as inheritance motivation and insurance payment mechanism into the generation overlapping model,which improves the extended generation overlapping model;(2)In the empirical analysis part,this paper is not limited to static regression or dynamic regression,and carries out static panel regression and dynamic panel regression at the same time,and compares the results of static regression estimation and dynamic regression estimation.
