Fintech is the result of the combination of finance and technology, which is widely used in the financial industry and brings opportunities and challenges to traditional commercial banks. In order to analyze the impact mechanism of fintech on the TFP of commercial banks, this thesis analyzes how fintech affects input and output variables, then affects its TFP of commercial banks based on the theory of information asymmetry, technology spillover and disruptive innovation. To study the impact of fintech on TFP of commercial banks, this thesis selects the data of 176 commercial banks in domestic banking market from 2011 to 2020 as the research object,to measure the TFP of commercial banks with DEA SBM model. The thesis classifies commercial banks according to their equity characteristics, listing status, province and region,to analyze their heterogeneity, and their convergence with fixed-effects model tests. The study in this thesis draws the following conclusions:(1)The growth of TFP comes partly from the improvement of technological progress, but mainly from the improvement of efficiency changes;(2)Without considering the huge investment in financial technology will overestimate the TFP of commercial banks;(3)Among commercial banks with different equity characteristics,joint-stock banks, agricultural and commercial banks, cooperative banks grow the fastest,state-owned banks, city commercial banks, and foreign banks grow slower.Among listed and unlisted banks, the TFP of unlisted banks grows significantly faster than that of listed banks;(4)Among commercial banks in different regions, the TFP of commercial banks in eastern provinces grows the fastest, the slowest in northeastern provinces;(5)The convergence analysis finds that the TFP of commercial banks with different equity characteristics and different regions show significant convergence trends. The innovations in this thesis are as follows:First, the existing literature lacks systematic analysis of relevant theoretical mechanisms, while this thesis provides a more detailed one;Second, the existing literature mostly uses fintech as an factor for correlation analysis, while this thesis directly uses fintech as an input variable to measure the TFP.The results of this thesis are based on the TFP of commercial banks with undesired outputs.Third, this thesis provides a detailed heterogeneity and convergence analysis, which makes the study of TFP more comprehensive and detailed.
