The era of artificial intelligence,characterized by the Internet of Everything and smart everything,is coming.In recent years,AI has become one of the hottest topics as artificial intelligence has been at the forefront of anti-epidemic.In the face of the public’s urgent need for artificial intelligence knowledge,how to popularize artificial intelligence knowledge and scientific research achievements vividly,intuitively and quickly has become an important issue.As one of the most important communication channels in the new media era,short video plays an important role in popular science communication.Short video is favored by the public with its advantages of low threshold production,short and concise,fast communication speed and strong interactivity.Content production is constantly subdivided and a large number of vertical content is derived.In this context,artificial intelligence popular science short video as one of the segmentation fields,also ushered in a new development opportunity.Through the observation of multiple platforms,the author found that although the channels for science communication have been diversified in recent years,the scientific content of short video platform also increasingly rich,the content production focusing on artificial intelligence popularization is still very limited,and the content is mixed.It cannot satisfy the audience to understand,learn and master the knowledge of artificial intelligence needs.Taking Douyin short video platform as an example,which has the largest number of users in China,it can be found that official science popularization institutions still do not pay enough attention to artificial intelligence science popularization,and content production is seriously insufficient.A large number of UGC producers cannot get out of the dilemma of low-level production due to the conflict between professional ability,video quality and production cost.Therefore,this paper takes artificial intelligence popular science short videos in Douyin short video platform as the research object and analyzes its production mechanism.The main content of this study is divided into five parts:The first part,mainly introduces the background,significance and purpose of this study,research methods and relevant research status.The second part,gives an overview of the production status of artificial intelligence popular science short videos,including the definition of related concepts and the development motivation,and classifies the short videos from the three perspectives of account attribute,content theme and presentation form,focusing on the content theme.The artificial intelligence popular science short videos are divided into popular science of technology application,hot technology interpretation,popular science of famous people,industry frontier interpretation,popular science courses,and other types.The content features of sample short videos are summarized,including topics catering to social hot topics,content conforming to the audience’s reading habits,interesting and popular language,and systematic knowledge dissemination.The third part,analyzes the production mechanism of artificial intelligence popular science short videos,including producer type,production motivation,material source and production mode.This part explains the difference between the production of professional institutions and the production of ordinary users,and summarizes three production modes of artificial intelligence popular science short videos according to the differences of producers:UGC production mode,PGC production mode and MCN production mode,it is found that the current production mode of artificial intelligence popular science short video is still based on the initial UGC production,which is still in the initial stage of development,but the three still have a trend of integration,and the production of popular science video will eventually develop toward professional production,so as to achieve better communication effect.The fourth part,summarizes the problems in the production and dissemination of artificial intelligence popular science short videos,and elaborates from three aspects: content itself,content production and content distribution.It is found that the video content has defects such as unclear positioning,severe homogeneity,poor visual effect,single presentation form,and difficulty in unifying popular science and fun;In the aspect of production,there are some problems,such as lack of professional producers,defects of production mechanism and insufficient power of authoritative institutions.Therefore,under the constraints of various factors,the production and dissemination of artificial intelligence popular science short video is in a dilemma,and it is urgent to make breakthroughs.The fifth part,puts forward some optimization strategies for content production of artificial intelligence popular science short video based on the previous analysis,so as to provide a new train of thought for the development of artificial intelligence popular science short videos,promote the spread of artificial intelligence knowledge,meet the public demand for knowledge,and enhance the public’s scientific literacy,to adapt to the arrival of the era of intelligence.
