| In recent years, under the obstacles of multiple factors such as the global macroeconomic downturn and frequent trade disputes,Chinese foreign trade growth has faced challenges. The global spread of the new crown epidemic, while increasing the pressure on Chinese foreign trade growth, also highlights the key role of the logistics level of various countries in maintaining the efficiency of international trade operations. In this context,it is of great practical and strategic significance to examine the relationship between the logistics performance of our partner and the development of our foreign trade.More specifically, the growth of foreign trade can be decomposed into two types of structural factors:the expansion of trade scale(intensive margin)and the increase in trade diversity(extensive margin). How is the improvement of logistics performance of partner countries related to China’s trade growth from the perspective of intensive margin and extensive margin? This paper uses the 6-digit HS level Chinese customs data from 2007 to 2017 to calculate the "Dual Margin"(intensive margin and extensive margin)of imports and exports between China and its partner countries,so as to break down the structure of China’s import and export trade from the perspective of trade size and trade diversity. At the same time, based on the 6 categories of sub-indices of the World Bank International Logistics Performance Index. The "entropy weight method" is used to measure the comprehensive level of the logistics performance of each country. The thesis empirically examines the impact of the logistics performance level on Chinese trade. The research shows that:1)The improvement of the comprehensive level of logistics performance of a partner country has a significant positive impact on the bilateral trade volume;2)The promotion of Chinese exports by partner countries’ logistics performance is mainly manifested in the intensive margin, the scale expansion of the original trade goods, while the promotion of Chinese imports is concentrated in the extensive margin, that is,Contribute to the richness of imported varieties. |
