China’s economic development has made great achievements,starting from the reform and opening up.At the same time,economic development has also brought environmental problems to China.The Report of the Work of the Government in 2022 highlighted environmental improvement and green development as important points.At the same time,China’s economy also faces the challenge of "carbon neutrality",which means that it is necessary for China to open up key nodes that restrict green and low-carbon development within a limited time.The government work report has made the digital economy an important focus for five consecutive years.The Government Work Report also identified the digital economy as a key point in China’s green and high-quality economic development.5G,big data and other digital technologies are the foundation for the development of the digital economy.New business forms,new business models and new platforms emerge with the development of digital economy.These changes can affect China’s industrial structure,factor allocation and green total factor productivity(GTFP)development.The integration of digital economy and traditional industries is injecting strong impetus into the development of green total factor productivity in China.In order to analyze whether and how China’s digital economy affects the level of China’s GTFP,this paper does the following work.Firstly,the relevant researches on digital economy and GTFP are reviewed.Then,the development level of digital economy and GTFP at the city level in China is measured.Finally,the nonlinear and spatial relationship between them is empirically analyzed.Specifically,281 Chinese cities are selected as samples in this paper,and the sample time is 2011-2019.This paper first measures the level of Chinese city digital economy and GTFP.The method of digital economy measurement is the improved entropy method,and the basis of measurement is the comprehensive evaluation index system.The calculation method of GTFP is the super efficiency SBM-GML model.According to the calculation results,this paper constructs a threshold model including digital economy and GTFP,and uses this model to research the nonlinear relationship between them.Furthermore,the paper constructs the Spatial Dubin Model to research the spatial impact of digital economy on GTFP.Finally,this paper gives some specific suggestions according to the research results of this paper.This paper mainly draws the following four conclusions.Firstly,digital economy in general can promote GTFP.When GTFP is divided into green technology efficiency change and green technology progress,it is found that the positive promoting effect mainly comes from the improvement of green technology efficiency.Secondly,there is a "U-shaped" relationship between digital economy and GTFP,which firstly inhibits and then promotes.To be specific,when the digital economy level is less than 0.1883,digital economy will inhibit the development of GTFP,but when the digital economy level is greater than 0.1883,digital economy will be conducive to the improvement of the city’s GTFP level.Thirdly,the improvement of digital economy will promote the development of GTFP in the region,but there is an obvious "siphon effect" in the process of digital economy development.The existence of the "siphon effect" will make high-quality human capital and a large amount of capital flow into this region,which is not conducive to the development of digital economy and GTFP in the surrounding region.Fourthly,there are differences in the promotion effect of digital economy on GTFP in the three regions.If the spatial factor is not taken into account,the digital economy has the biggest impact on GTFP in the eastern region.If spatial factors are taken into account,the digital economy has the biggest impact on GTFP in central China.This study can help the government and scholars further understand the impact of the China’s urban digital economy on GTFP.It is also possible for the government to specify differentiated digital economy policies,so as to give full play to the role of digital economy in promoting GTFP in different regions.This is of great significance for promoting green and coordinated development among regions.
