| Global warming is the gradual increase in the Earth’s surface temperature, primarily caused by a rise in greenhouse gas concentration in the atmosphere due to human activities. This phenomenon has led to the aggravation of environmental issues and natural disasters, prompting governments to take measures to address climate change. The low-carbon economy aims to achieve sustainable economic development by minimizing carbon emissions during production and consumption. As the global warming intensifies, governments are increasingly turning to the development of low-carbon economy as a key solution to tackle climate change. Many countries are now prioritizing the development of low-carbon economy as a response to the pressing challenge of climate change.Currently, nations worldwide have made various international agreements, including the Paris Agreement, with the goal of limiting global temperature rise by cutting down greenhouse gas emissions.Simultaneously, governments and businesses worldwide are actively promoting the development of low-carbon economy and expediting the shift to a lowcarbon economic model. As one of the world’s largest emitters of carbon dioxide,China is confronting severe environmental pollution and climate change. To address these challenges, the Chinese government is proactively advancing the development of lowcarbon economy, with the goal of achieving sustainable economic growth and environmental protection. The development of low-carbon economy has emerged as a crucial strategy for China’s economic progress. This study integrates relevant domestic and foreign research, examines the impact pathway and real consequences of low-carbon economy on the technology complexity of manufacturing exports, and confirms the causal relationship through empirical research and intermediate mechanism analysis.Based on an analysis of the current state of low-carbon economy and technology complexity of manufacturing exports, this study presents some potential challenges and corresponding measures. The findings indicate that enhancing the level of low-carbon economy can yield a favorable impact on the technology complexity of manufacturing exports through technological innovation and financial development, with varying effects across regions and industries.Furthermore, this study identified several intermediary mechanisms, such as innovation investment and financial deepening, that can moderate the relationship between low-carbon economy and export technology complexity. These results offer both theoretical and empirical support for devising policies that promote the development of low-carbon economy and manufacturingThis study,by conducting theoretical analysis, describing the current situation, and performing empirical analysis, has identified that:To begin with, this study has found that China’s low-carbon economy has been showing improvement in recent years, although the pace of growth has slowed down.Similarly, the trend of China’s manufacturing export technology complexity has also followed a similar pattern. When dividing China into four regions, namely, the east, middle, west, and northeast, the level of low-carbon economy shows a gradual decrease from the east to the northeast, central region, and the west, while the complexity of manufacturing export technology displays a gradual decrease from the east to the central, northeast, and the west.Secondly, the study has identified a significant positive correlation between the level of low-carbon economy and the level of manufacturing export technology complexity in China. The data shows that the enhancement of low-carbon economy has a greater impact on the technological complexity of manufacturing exports in the northeast region, compared to the eastern and western regions, while the central region displays the least effect.Enhancing the level of low-carbon economy can positively impact the technical complexity of manufacturing exports by leveraging technological innovation and financial development.Specifically, the enhancement of low-carbon economy can facilitate the research and innovation of new technologies, which can then be applied in practical settings.Additionally, this development can stimulate financial growth and provide more funding support to the manufacturing industry. The combined effect of these factors can contribute to the ongoing advancement of the technical sophistication of the manufacturing industry, subsequently boosting its export technical complexity. |
