A Study On The Export Complexity And Influence Factors Of The Manufacturing Industry In China

Manufacturing is the cornerstone of the development of an industrialized country and plays a crucial role in the economic development of a nation.At present,our country has become a major exporter of manufacturing industry.The overall scale of exports is far ahead.Whether such a huge scale of exports means that our country has already been a manufacturing powerhouse deserves our further consideration.Export sophistication,as a comprehensive concept integrating the export commodity structure and the export technology,provides a new perspective for the study in the field of international trade.Therefore,deeply study has been made of the current level of manufacturing industry in international trade in China by analyzing export sophistication in this paper,and further research on the factors affecting the export sophistication has been carried on,which is important for the sound understanding of the development of China's manufacturing industry.In this paper,the export sophistication was calculated,and the overall export sophistication of manufacturing industries in the world and the status of China's manufacturing subdivision industry were measured.The 27 manufacturing subdivisions were divided into three different element-intensive industries.And then,based on the theoretical analysis,panel GMM method is used to regress the panel data of 27 manufacturing industries.The influence of technological innovation capability,foreign direct investment,human capital,industry average size and labor cost on the export sophistication of China's manufacturing industry is analyzed.In order to further realize the internal conditions of different intensive industries,the LSDVC method is used to further verify the empirical results.The results show that in recent years,the scale of China's manufacturing exports has been expanding far beyond that of developed countries.However,the level of manufacturing export sophistication is much lower than that of developed countries and internal conditions of various industries vary a lot.From the perspective of manufacturing industry as a whole,the dynamic accumulation effect of export sophistication is obvious.The technological innovation capability,foreign direct investment,human capital and labor cost have a positive effect on export sophistication while the average industry size does the opposite;From the results of the grouping,the level of export complexity in the previous period still had a greater impact on the current period.The impact of human capital on labor-intensive industries was insignificant,and the impact of labor costs on capital-intensive industries was insignificant.It is also necessary to point out the importance of improving the capability of independent innovation of enterprises.Attention should be paid to the level and quality of foreign investment and the capacity to absorb them effectively.The government should improve the comprehensive quality of the labor force.They should also give play to the advantages of industrial agglomeration and optimize intra-industry competition,improve the system of income distribution and decrease the unreasonable elements causing the industry's income disparity.
