Research On The Impact Of Digital Economy Development On Trade Facilitation

Since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed,the economic and trade exchanges between China and the countries along the Belt and Road have been developing steadily,with the trade volume increasing year by year.In 2022,China’s total trade in goods with countries along the Belt and Road reached 13.83 trillion yuan,more than that with other countries(regions).However,most of the countries along the Belt and Road are developing countries with a low level of economic development and low level of overall trade facilitation,which restricts the growth of trade between the two sides.The development of digital economy will not only affect the development of trade,but also affect the direction of the whole international trade.Trade facilitation is a major trend of international trade development and is of great practical significance.Therefore,it is necessary to explore the influence mechanism of the development of digital economy on trade facilitation,and make better use of digital economy to promote the improvement of trade facilitation,so as to promote the economic and trade development along the "Belt and Road".This thesis takes the countries along the Belt and Road as the object,and studies the digital economy and trade facilitation.First of all,by summarizing and combing relevant literature,this thesis theoretically analyzed that the development of digital economy can affect the level of infrastructure,government supervision capacity,customs environment and cross-border trade finance,and then have an impact on trade facilitation.Secondly,this thesis constructs relevant indicators to measure the development level of digital economy and trade facilitation of countries along the Belt and Road.The results show that the digital economy development level and trade facilitation level of the countries along the Belt and Road have a large regional gap,but the overall trend is increasing year by year.Furthermore,this thesis uses empirical research methods to sort out the panel data of 59 countries along the Belt and Road from 2010 to 2019,and explores the impact of digital economy development on trade facilitation through two-way fixed panel effect.Finally,the heterogeneity of the impact of digital economy development on trade facilitation was analyzed from different income levels,regions and paths.After that,the explanatory variables and explained variables were recalculated through principal component analysis.The following conclusions were obtained by replacing original variables,reducing the sample interval and testing the robustness of variables with a lag of one period:(1)There are big gaps in the development level of digital economy and trade facilitation among countries along the Belt and Road;(2)The development of digital economy in countries along the "Belt and Road" can significantly promote the improvement of trade facilitation,and has different impacts on countries with different economic development levels;(3)The development of digital economy promotes the development of trade facilitation by influencing infrastructure,government regulation,customs environment and cross-border trade finance.In view of the above research conclusions,this thesis combined with the actual situation to put forward policy recommendations: improve the level of infrastructure;Strengthening digital governance and promoting legislation on data protection;Strengthen regional cooperation and communication to promote institutional interoperability;We will develop legal digital currency and promote the use of the digital renminbi.
