| Since the 1980s,international trade has developed rapidly, the proportion of international service trade has been expanding, and the overall growth rate of service trade is faster than that of goods trade. In the past decade,China’s trade in services has continued to grow, with an average annual growth rate of 6.1 percent, which is 3.1percentage points higher than the global growth rate. However,China’s service trade has been in a trade deficit for a long time while it continues to develop.Even though the service trade deficit has narrowed in the past two years,it can still reflect the problems existing in China’s service trade in export,it needs to be addressed. There are many factors influencing China’s service trade export. In the digital era, digital information technology will enable China’s service trade to develop in high quality. The countries along the “Belt and Road”,as important partners of China, are increasingly close to China in trade, the study of the relationship between the development of digital economy and China’s service trade can provide some new ideas for China to eliminate its long-standing trade deficit,it is conducive to China’s formulation of a more practical service trade export policy,to promote China’s better construction of the Digital Silk Road.Based on the relevant literature, this paper analyzes the impact of the development of digital economy in the “Belt and Road”countries on the export of Chinese service trade by using STATA software.First of all,in order to measure the development level of digital economy in the countries along the route, this paper selects three first-level indicators:digital infrastructure construction, digital application level and institutional guarantee and innovation environment, using principal component analysis to calculate the development level of the digital economy of each country and the three first-level indicators of their respective scores.Second, compile data on Chinese exports of 2021 services to “Belt and Road” countries from 2011 to 2021.On this basis,we use the expanded trade gravity model to analyze the panel data and analyze the sample heterogeneity. The empirical results show that the development of digital economy in the “Belt and Road” countries can significantly promote the export of Chinese service trade. Then, the three first-level indicators are used as the replacement variables for the robustness test. The test results show that the three first-level indicators will have a positive promotion effect on China’s service trade exports, among them, the digital infrastructure construction has the most significant promoting effect on China’s service export.Through the analysis of sample heterogeneity,it is found that the development of digital economy has a significant promotion effect on the export of transportation services and other services, after excluding the influence of covid-19,the development of digital economy in countries with different income levels along the route can significantly promote China’s service exports. Finally, based on the above conclusions, this paper puts forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions to promote China’s service trade exports to provide some ideas. |
